With several projects in 18 countries of intervention and 3 platforms, as well as in the professions that it develops and implements in France, the French Red Cross internationally places all its missions in a sustainable humanitarian action plan.
This translates into a coordination of emergency, post-emergency, crisis recovery and reconstruction activities aimed at achieving maximum efficiency. The objective is to carry out actions with lasting effects and to enable populations to regain their full autonomy.
Our association also aims to strengthen its presence and promote its priority commitments within the international movement.
FRAMEWORK AND OBJECTIVE OF THE INTERNSHIP CONTRACT:
The logistics and international purchasing department of the French Red Cross is integrated into the International Operations Department.
The department, made up of 14 people, is dedicated to international missions (Africa, Caribbean, Middle East, Europe, DROM/COM, etc.). It is organized around two units: purchasing / logistics.
The procurement department carries out the following missions:
- Implement the purchasing policy by ensuring consistency in purchasing (standardization) and compliance with purchasing procedures. In this context, he also provides advice and technical support in the field.
- Guarantee the best conditions of flow, quality and costs.
- Establish and secure certain strategic supplies.
- Prepare and monitor calls for tender, negotiate and implement contracts.
- Monitor technical fleets (including vehicles and IT) to ensure the nature and allocation of equipment, its maintenance, condition and availability over time.
- Manage stocks located in France and dedicated to the international part
The objective of the internship is to provide support to the purchasing unit of the DOI’s International Purchasing Logistics department. It will allow the intern to understand the reality of the French Red Cross’s humanitarian missions through the
supply chain.

INTERN’S MISSIONS:
Within the logistics-purchasing office, under the responsibility of the logistics referent, the intern will ensure, after a training period:
PURCHASES
- Finalize and close 2025 purchasing files: check that the documentation is complete, liaise with field teams for the collection of delivery notes. Archive purchasing files.
- Management of recurring purchases on behalf of headquarters and delegations
- Collect and classify purchase requests
- Prepare quote requests from suppliers
- Gather and analyze quotes
- Participate in the supplier selection process
- Place orders under the supervision of the purchasing team, track shipments until delivery to the delegations, in liaison with suppliers and freight forwarders. Collect and verify transport documents for transmission to the delegation.
- Collect and pay supplier invoices
- Update of reporting tools (purchase monitoring/supplier monitoring, etc.)
- Assist the department in the analysis and validation of head office suppliers.
- Publication of international calls for tenders, participation in opening and analysis sessions.
STOCKS
- Track IT equipment and consumables:
- Preparation of transport quotes and export documentation for shipments by carrier and via international mission delegates. Monitoring of shipments and archiving of documentation.
- Monitoring of equipment and consumables stock in supervision with the buyer/stock manager (stock entries/exits, inventory taking, launching replenishments).
