RCA – Base Manager / LogAdmin – Markounda F/M At International Solidarity

You have 3 years of humanitarian experience in the field, in logistics, administration or in base management of equivalent size.

You have an appetite for IT tools (Excel, Saga, Homere, LINK) as well as a good knowledge of purchasing procedures, project cycles, business operations and logistics procedures.

You already have proven experience in security management and updating security analysis tools.

Experience with SI and experience living in an isolated and remote base would be desirable

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that, for over 40 years, has been providing relief to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs, such as food, water, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the world’s leading cause of death, SI’s interventions provide expertise in the areas of access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion, as well as in the essential area of ​​food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI’s teams – a total of 2,000 people made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers – operate with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

The mission

Present in the CAR since 2007, SI currently carries out emergency and post-emergency programs in food security, Water, Hygiene and Sanitation, with operational bases in the prefectures of Nana-Gribizi, Ouham, and Nana Mambéré.

Currently, the CAR mission is in a new phase, where it integrates the Chad & Cameroon missions, with coordination based in Chad & Cameroon, and an Operational Zone Director (on whom this position depends) based in Bangui

General objectives of the position:

The base manager ensures the representation of Solidarités International by delegation from the Head of Mission on a base or in a geographical area.

He leads the life of the base and ensures good communication between the different services.

As the security officer at his base, he ensures that everyone complies with Solidarités International rules and procedures.

Priorities for the first 2-3 months

HR work Logistics and security to follow with the merger of the CAR mission with those of Cameroon and Chad which are in the process of revitalizing these aspects, with a view to pooling tools.

The base also has several HR projects (EAP, training, social dialogue, etc.) in progress, to be carried out jointly with the coordination based in Yaoundé.

A salaried position: Depending on experience, from EUR 2150 gross per month (+ 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 720, paid in CFA francs.

SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate’s home country and the duty station.

Breaks: During the mission, a system of alternating between work and leave is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with USD 850 allocated by Solidarités International). In addition to these break periods, there is one additional day of rest per month worked.

Social and medical coverage: Expatriates benefit from insurance that reimburses all health costs (including medical and surgical costs, dental and ophthalmological care, repatriation)

LIVING CONDITIONS:

SI shares its guesthouse with PUI & MdM. Markounda is a town secured by the presence of MINUSCA and FACA. There is a small local market, but beyond that, it can be difficult to source fresh fruit and vegetables. The mission has therefore set up a break in Bangui every 6 weeks to allow expatriates to recharge their batteries and restock on food.
