AUAF Background:

The American University of Afghanistan is Afghanistan’s only nationally accredited, private, not-for- profit, non-partisan, and coeducational institution of higher education. It opened its doors in 2006 with an initial enrollment of 50 students, and since that time has grown to enroll more than 1,700 full- and part- time students across undergraduate, graduate, and professional training programs. Position Summary

The Senior Finance Manager’s responsibilities include but are not limited to, ensuring timely and quality reporting, facilitating grant opening and closeout processes, maintaining grants-related information and files, supporting proposal development processes, managing reporting deadlines, producing high-quality financial reports and donor updates, and developing internal and external communication materials. He/she will also help support monthly, quarterly & annual grant review and budget review meetings in close collaboration with the Development department and Director of Finance And any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Key outcomes include:

  • Manage routine tasks as directed by finance policies and the line manager.
  • Fulfil the designated goal set by the finance office.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and update the student finance manual.
  • Supervise the preparation of the DOS liquidation and reimbursement reports.
  • Prepare the DOS quarterly reports and SF-425
  • Prepare the DOS cash advance requests.
  • Review other financial reports monthly and quarterly.
  • Review the other donors/sponsors and scholarship reports.
  • Manage and review the Power Campus data during the assessment processes.
  • Review the monthly national payroll.
  • Review the monthly international payroll.
  • Manage and assist the staff on day-to-day scholarships and student finance issues.
  • Manage and assist the staff on accounts receivable issues.
  • Cooperate and assist the finance team in the audit requisitions.
  • Support finance team in overall accounting and Dynamics 365 troubleshooting
  • Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Bachelor degree with 7 years of experience
  • Accounting application/ERP. Microsoft Business Central (BC) is preferred/desired.
