Purpose of Assignment:
The Senior MHPSS Projects Officer will be responsible for leading the planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of all MHPSS Projects’ activities across Syria from SAMS Syria office ensuring alignment with SAMS’ standards and donor requirements. This role will contribute to the integration of MHPSS within primary and secondary healthcare services, while building local capacities and ensuring evidence-based, culturally appropriate interventions.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
. Program Management & Implementation
- Lead the operational planning and execution of MHPSS projects in Syria, ensuring that activities align with donor commitments, guidelines, and SAMS technical standards.
- Supervise the officers and field project staff on the day-to-day implementation of MHPSS activities across supported facilities and communities.
- Coordinate with the MHPSS field teams to ensure technical quality and timely delivery of services.
- Regularly update project work plans, activity trackers, and implementation schedules in coordination with the program team.
- Monitor contextual changes and provide recommendations for program adaptation or expansion.
2. Technical Oversight, & Capacity Building
- Ensure that MHPSS interventions meet international standards and are adapted to the local context and SAMS standards.
- Provide regular technical support and mentorship to field MHPSS teams, including psychologists, case managers, and psychosocial workers.
- Lead the design and delivery of training modules, workshops, and supervision sessions based on identified capacity gaps.
- Contribute to the development of operational guidelines, protocols, and tools for MHPSS service delivery.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Work closely with MEAL staff to define MHPSS-specific indicators and tools to track progress, quality, and impact.
- Ensure that monitoring data is regularly collected, analyzed, and used for program improvement.
- Support the documentation of success stories, case studies, and lessons learned.
- Lead the drafting and review of donor reports and internal updates related to MHPSS activities.
4. Coordination and Representation
- Represent SAMS in MHPSS and protection sector coordination platforms and working groups in Syria.
- Foster partnerships with other actors to enhance the referral system and expand service coverage.
- Under the supervision of the Senior Programs Manager – coordinate with local authorities, UN agencies, and INGOs as needed for smooth project implementation and compliance.
5. Proposal Development and Strategic Planning
- Contribute to the design of new MHPSS proposals, including situation analyses, log-frames, narratives, and budgets.
- Support strategic planning for the MHPSS sector, including geographic expansion, integration into other health programs, and sustainability planning
THE CANDIDATE’S REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory Qualifications required
- University degree in clinical psychology, Mental Health, Psychiatric Social Work,
- 5 years’ experience in MHPSS Programming management in NGO Sector
Languages
- Fluent written and spoken in Arabic
- Upper-intermediate written and spoken in English
