Social Media Video Editors – Humanitarian At International Planned Parenthood Federation

Background

The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global healthcare provider and advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for all. In humanitarian crises, IPPF and its Member Associations (MAs) deliver life-saving sexual and reproductive healthcare services to women, girls and marginalised communities – often under extremely challenging circumstances.

To support this work, IPPF is seeking to establish a pool of talented, experienced ad-hoc video editors to produce short-form, social-forward video content. These videos will showcase humanitarian responses and human-interest stories from the ground in a way that is emotionally engaging, ethically sound, and aligned with IPPF’s brand and values.

Scope of Work

Editors in the pool may be contracted on an ad-hoc basis to edit footage provided by into short, impactful videos (typically 30 seconds to 3 minutes). This may include:

– Storyboarding or light scripting support. Experience in also copywriting for social films desirable
– Selecting and sequencing footage for emotional impact and clarity
– Basic graphics and text overlays (e.g. subtitles, names, statistics)
– Sound design and background music
– Colour correction and visual polish
– Output of multiple formats (e.g. vertical for reels, horizontal for YouTube)
– Ensuring ethical representation of people and stories

Deliverables

Deliverables will vary depending on the brief, but typical outputs include:

– 1–3 minute social media films
– Vertical 60-second reels
– Short montage or trailer-style videos
– Final versions in multiple formats (MP4, square/vertical etc.) for different platforms

Each assignment will be accompanied by a short creative brief from IPPF, outlining messaging, tone, audience, and format specifications.

Required Skills and Experience

– Proven experience editing social-first short-form video content for international charities or humanitarian organisations.
– Strong storytelling sensibility, especially around sensitive topics (e.g. sexual reproductive health and rights, conflict, displacement)
– Proficiency in editing software and access to own software subscription (strong preference for Adobe Premiere Pro)
– Experience editing for social media-first campaigns (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube)
– Familiarity with ethical storytelling in humanitarian contexts
– Ability to work quickly and independently under tight deadlines
– Knowledge of humanitarian issues, particularly in SRH, is an advantage

Location

– International, remote, flexible is working possible.
– A strong internet connection is required for downloading content.

Contract Type and Duration

This is not a full-time or retainer position. Editors will be contracted on a per-project basis depending on availability, style-fit, and relevance to the brief. Being in the pool does not guarantee work but indicates you are a preferred vendor for IPPF humanitarian projects.

Editors who wish to be included in the pool should submit the following:

– A **short cover letter (**max 1 page) outlining your location, relevant experience including the typical turnaround time to complete editing of a 1-minute social media video with subtitling and basic graphics (assuming all materials provided)
– Portfolio of at least 3 relevant video examples, preferably for humanitarian or NGO clients. Please clearly state your role in the film production.
– Expected Daily rate and indication of availability. Please indicate professional fees as a daily rate, in USD excluding VAT. Where applicable, VAT should be shown separately.
