THE ALIMA SPIRIT:

ALIMA promotes and defends fundamental human rights principles. ALIMA has a zero-tolerance policy towards those guilty of gender-based and sexual violence, as well as towards inaction in the face of alleged or proven acts of violence. The protection of those benefiting from and impacted by our work is our top priority in everything we do. Everyone collaborating with ALIMA commits to:
- Respect the charter, the code of conduct, institutional policies including the policy for protection against abuse of power and gender-based and sexual violence, the policy for the prevention of corruption and fraud;

HEAL – INNOVATE – TOGETHER:
Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 18 million patients and now operates in 14 countries. We work in partnership, particularly with local NGOs, whenever possible to ensure our patients benefit from expertise wherever it is found, whether in their own country or elsewhere in the world. Furthermore, to improve the humanitarian response, we conduct operational and clinical research projects, notably to combat malnutrition and viral hemorrhagic fevers.
THE ALIMA TEAM:
More than 2,000 people currently work for ALIMA. The field teams, working closely with patients, are supported by a coordination team generally based in the capital city of each country where they operate. These coordination teams receive support from three offices (“Desks”), as well as the Emergency Department, all located at ALIMA’s operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. Each Desk is responsible for providing support to several of ALIMA’s countries of operation. The teams in Paris, New York, and London actively work on fundraising and representing ALIMA. The rest of the ALIMA network includes individuals and partner teams working for other organizations such as the local medical NGOs Alerte Santé (Chad), AMCP-SP (Mali), BEFEN (Niger), KEOOGO and SOS Médecins (Burkina Faso), the research organizations PAC-CI and Inserm, the Universities of Bordeaux and Copenhagen, the NGO Solidarités International, and many others.

JOB CHALLENGES
ALIMA aims to significantly strengthen its visibility, positioning, and influence on the web and social media to support its strategic objectives. These objectives are part of a comprehensive approach aimed at:
– Increase the organization’s visibility among its key target audiences in priority fundraising countries (France, USA, UK, Belgium, Switzerland). This involves developing a consistent and impactful digital presence, capable of attracting the attention of diverse audiences, ranging from individual donors to major institutional and financial partners.
– Improve ALIMA’s positioning as a key player in humanitarian aid , by highlighting its differentiating and innovative model based on location, its field actions, and its approach focused on dual impact: responding to immediate emergencies while strengthening local health systems for sustainable development.
– To retain and expand the community engaged around ALIMA
In this context, the Communication Assistant plays a central role in the digital department by actively participating in achieving these objectives.
JOB LOCATION
Dakar, Senegal, ALIMA’s operational headquarters. No travel (or only in exceptional circumstances).

MAIN MISSIONS
The Communication Assistant actively supports the Communication Department, and in particular the digital unit, in order to achieve the various communication objectives of the NGO ALIMA.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
Under the supervision of the Digital Communications Manager, the intern will actively contribute to the implementation of ALIMA’s digital strategy through the following tasks:
Media Gallery (Bynder) update – 50% of the time
The MEDIA GALLERY is ALIMA’s image bank. It contains all the photos illustrating our field activities.
- Integrate new photos from field reports into the media gallery every day.
- Tag each photo according to established standards (country, theme(s), rights, photographer, etc.) to facilitate their use by the communication and fundraising teams.
- Add captions to each photo based on a pre-prepared and approved caption document.
This work helps to enhance the value of the work of the field teams and to guarantee the visual quality of the NGO’s communication materials.
Support for the creation and management of social media content
- Support the Digital Communication Officer in the design and writing of publications (static or video) for the various social networks (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Participate in the search for relevant visuals, videos and testimonies from the intervention areas.
The intern will thus participate in highlighting ALIMA’s humanitarian actions through various formats: testimonials, short videos, stories, infographics or institutional posts.
Support for the management, animation and moderation of social networks
- Contribute to publication planning via scheduling tools (e.g. Agorapulse).
- Assisting with monitoring, moderating comments and processing private messages, while respecting ALIMA’s tone and values.
- Participate in performance monitoring (reach, engagement, etc.) and the production of quarterly reports to continuously improve the editorial strategy.
Support for publishing articles on the website
- Assist with the online posting of news (articles and press releases) on the website (content integration, choice of visuals, etc.).
Support in preparing the monthly newsletter
- Support the Digital Communication Manager in the preparation and scheduling of the newsletter for supporters and donors.
- Participate in content selection, layout on the sending tool and performance monitoring (open rates, clicks, etc.).
This work helps to maintain a regular and authentic link between ALIMA and its community of supporters around the world.
EXPERIENCES ET COMPETENCES
Level of education
Higher education in communication, journalism, digital marketing or equivalent.
Experiences
– Internship open to junior profiles.
– Prior experience in digital communication, social media or web writing would be an asset.
– Experience in an international, English-speaking environment and/or in the humanitarian or non-profit sector is a plus.
– References in content creation (writing, video editing, visuals) and proficiency with creation tools (Canva, CapCut, etc.) would be appreciated.
LANGUAGES
Excellent command of French required (reading, writing, speaking). Proficiency in English is an asset.

– Creative, curious and rigorous.
– Good communicator, comfortable with both written and oral communication.

Salary: 150,000 CFA francs per month
