The Venezuelan Red Cross (CRV) is a humanitarian organization whose mandate is to save lives and improve the conditions of vulnerable people. As part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, it provides timely assistance in emergencies, disasters, and other humanitarian crises.

How can you make a difference? Key functions / Responsibilities

The Community Engagement Assistant provides technical and operational support for the implementation of Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) activities within the Venezuelan Red Cross. They help ensure that communities receive timely information, actively participate in activities, and can express their opinions, concerns, questions, and suggestions through appropriate feedback mechanisms. These functions align with the community engagement approaches promoted by the IFRC.

He/She will be in charge of:

  • Support the implementation of community participation activities in programs, projects and operations of the Venezuelan Red Cross.
  • Support the implementation of consultations, community meetings, focus groups, and other participatory activities to understand the needs, priorities, and perceptions of the communities.
  • Collaborate in the dissemination of institutional, programmatic and operational information to communities using the most appropriate channels and formats for different population groups.
  • To receive, record and channel comments, suggestions, questions and complaints from the communities through the feedback mechanisms established by the organization.
  • Support the monitoring of community feedback to ensure that cases are responded to and managed in accordance with institutional procedures.
  • Contribute to the collection, organization and systematization of data related to community participation and feedback mechanisms.
  • Support the preparation of reports, tracking matrices, presentations, and other products related to CEA activities.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support in workshops, training sessions, community meetings and capacity-building activities related to CEA.
  • To support training and guidance processes for staff and volunteers on basic tools for community participation and accountability.
  • Support the monitoring of the use of community participation tools and approaches in programs and activities of the Venezuelan Red Cross.
  • Contribute to the identification of concerns, rumors, access barriers, and community perceptions relevant to humanitarian programs.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the information managed and comply with institutional policies on data protection, safeguarding and ethical conduct.
  • Perform other activities related to the Community Participation area that are assigned to you by your immediate supervisor.

Report

The Community Participation Assistant will report to the Community Participation Officer or the Community Participation Coordinator, according to the current organizational structure.

Workplace

Caracas (Headquarters of the Venezuelan Red Cross), with availability to travel nationwide.

Requirements:

Education

  • University student in the final semesters or recently graduated professional in social work, sociology, psychology, community development, education, social communication, international relations, anthropology or other related areas.
  • Additional training in humanitarian action, community participation, protection, inclusion or community development will be valued.

Experience

  • Minimum experience of one (1) year in social, community, humanitarian or development programs.
  • Experience in working with communities, field activities or facilitating participatory processes.
  • Experience in gathering and systematizing information will be considered an advantage.

Knowledge and skills

  • Basic knowledge of community participation and accountability approaches.
  • Proficiency in computer tools (Microsoft Office and collaborative platforms).
  • Ability to organize information and prepare basic reports.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and in multicultural contexts.
  • Availability for fieldwork and travel nationwide.
  • Ability to work in a team and under supervision.
