How can you make a difference? Key functions / Responsibilities
The Pharmacy Assistant will have the main responsibility of providing support in the work to be carried out by the local Coordinator.
He/She will be in charge of:
- Receive, verify, and register incoming medications and medical supplies, ensuring they match purchase orders and quality standards.
- Organize and maintain the pharmacy inventory in accordance with good storage practices (temperature, humidity, expiration date, FIFO/FEFO rotation).
- Perform regular physical counts and inventory reconciliations, reporting any discrepancies.
- Monitor the expiration dates of medications and supplies, identifying and separating those that are about to expire or have already expired for proper disposal, following the organization’s protocols and local regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the pharmacy and storage areas.
- Assist in the preparation of orders and shipments of medicines and supplies to health centers or field distribution points, ensuring correct packaging and documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of the entry, exit, and consumption of medications and supplies.
- Collaborate in the preparation of periodic reports on the stock, consumption and needs of medicines.
- Ensure that all pharmacy-related documentation (temperature logs, stock cards, etc.) is complete and accessible.
- Follow the protocols established by the Venezuelan Red Cross in the provision of health services.
- Participate in training and educational activities related to your role.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Local Coordination and/or the National Coordination, which contribute to the fulfillment of institutional objectives.
Report
The Pharmacy Assistant will report to the Local Coordinator.
Workplace: San Antonio, Coro.
To qualify as a builder of the Venezuelan humanitarian system, you must meet the following requirements:
- At least 1 year of experience as a pharmacy assistant. Minimum experience of one (1) year.
- At least 1 year working with health teams, including doctors, nurses and dentists, in the implementation of medical and community activities.
- Title in Pharmacy Assistant or equivalent.
- Experience working with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Capacity and agreement to adhere to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong sense of responsibility and professional ethics.
