WASH Engineer (in Tel Abyad, Ar Raqqah, Syria) At Woman Support Association

1.Position: WASH Engineer (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical Background)

2. Background
Woman Support Association (ISWA) is a humanitarian, developmental, and nongovernmental organization that was established in 2013 and officially registered in Turkey in 2015 and registered inside Syria in 2025.
All projects implemented by the Association in Syria and Turkey aim to build a better life for women and empower them so that they can face problems and challenges in a way that maintains their dignity and respect.

– The WASH Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical background) will provide full technical support and oversight across all phases of WASH project implementation. The position requires more than 5 years of experience in WASH programming, particularly in water infrastructure rehabilitation, sanitation systems, solid waste management, and hygiene promotion activities.

The engineer will ensure that all interventions are implemented according to technical standards, quality requirements, and donor guidelines, and will be responsible for technical monitoring, reporting, and supervision of field activities.

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1 Technical Planning and Implementation

– Support technical assessments and design of WASH infrastructure

– Review BoQs, technical drawings, and implementation plans

– Ensure compliance with engineering standards and project specifications

3.2 Field Supervision and Monitoring

– Conduct regular field visits to monitor all phases of implementation

– Supervise contractors and ensure quality control of works

– Verify progress against technical designs and work plans

– Identify technical issues and recommend corrective actions

3.3 WASH Infrastructure Rehabilitation

– Supervise rehabilitation of water supply systems, pumps, tanks, and networks

– Ensure proper installation and functionality of WASH infrastructure

– Support technical solutions for sanitation facilities and systems

3.4 Solid Waste Management & Hygiene Promotion

– Support implementation of solid waste management activities

– Integrate hygiene promotion aspects into WASH interventions

– Ensure infrastructure supports improved public health outcomes

3.5 Reporting and Documentation

– Prepare regular technical monitoring reports for the Project Manager

– Document progress, challenges, risks, and solutions during implementation

– Prepare completion reports and technical evaluations

– Maintain accurate field records, photos, and verification documents

3.6 Coordination

– Work closely with project teams, field staff, and contractors

– Coordinate with local authorities and community stakeholders

– Participate in technical and coordination meetings

4. Required Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

– Minimum 5 years of experience in WASH projects

– Strong experience in water infrastructure rehabilitation

– Experience in solid waste management and hygiene promotion

– Strong technical and field supervision skills

5. Skills and Competencies

– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

– Ability to work in challenging field conditions

– Excellent reporting and documentation skills

– Strong coordination and communication abilities

– Knowledge of WASH standards (Sphere Standards is an advantage)
