General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization and it is devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of conflict-affected populations in Türkiye and Syria. Since its establishment in 2016, Orange has implemented programmes spanning sectors, including peacebuilding, social cohesion, education, child protection, early recovery and economic empowerment, livelihoods, food security and agriculture, and capacity development. Orange now has more than 250 full-time staff in Syria and Turkiye and is expanding to nearby countries supporting the Syrian refugees and host communities. Orange is officially registered in Germany under the name ‘Orange e. V.’

Job Purpose:

We are currently seeking remote volunteers to support our efforts in response to recent earthquakes in Syria and Turkiye. As a remote volunteer, you will play a critical role in supporting our efforts by conducting research, analyzing data, and helping to coordinate relief efforts. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a difference and who want to use their skills and experience to support disaster relief efforts.

The volunteers are required in the following areas:

– Translation (Turkish, Arabic, French, and German)

– Media Content Management

– Proposal Writing and Fundraising

– Emergency WASH and FSL Projects Management

Requirements:

  • Language skills. In other words, do they know how to speak the language and are they familiar with the culture of the disaster-affected area?
  • Prior disaster experience. Some aid organizations will require several years of overseas work experience.
  • Technical expertise. Some aid groups seek volunteers with specialized experience such as medicine, logistics, or water/sanitation/hygiene.
  • Time. Some hiring agencies will request volunteers to commit a certain amount of time (i.e. three months) to work on a disaster response.

Orange’s Values and Principles:

We believe that:

· Maintaining a positive, healthy, and trusting relationship are central to making the partnership a success.

· Appropriately trained and resourced staff and volunteers are key to effective and efficient service and program delivery in the development sector.

We are committed to:

· Shared responsibility, accountability, and decision-making in any partnership.

· Providing access to high-quality learning to empower people and professionals in the development sector, particularly in the developing world.

· Learning from each other to strengthen and enhance the long-term sustainability of our services and programs for the benefit of children and communities that we serve.

Child safeguarding policy

Orange aims to create a safe organization for children but is also aware of the need to keep child protection concerns proportionate and to guard against over-zealous attitudes. Child abuse thrives in closed and secretive atmospheres. Orange’s best protection is to create an open and aware culture where people are not afraid to speak about their concerns.

Any employee, consultant, contractor or supplier undertaking an activity on behalf of Orange capacity building must sign the Child Safeguarding – Declaration of Acceptance Form and comply with the Orange Child Safeguarding Policy, which is a statement of Orange’s commitment to preventing abuse and protecting children with whom it comes into contact.
