Senior Liaison Officer At Caritas Czech Republic

Name of position: Senior Liaison Officer

Contract Period: 12 months with the possibility of extension based on funding availability

Place of employment: Gaziantep, Turkey (temporarily in Mersin)

Start date: As soon as possible

II. Organizational context

Caritas Czech Republic (CCR) is a non-profit non-governmental organization with field activities in 27 countries (Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa) and an extensive social services program in the Czech Republic assisting more than 100,000 clients. CCR is a member of the international network of Caritas Internationalis and cooperates with a number of international and local partners.

The core of CCR’s activities focuses on development cooperation and longer-term programming. However, the share of humanitarian and nexus interventions is growing, especially in the sectors of shelter, cash and emergency livelihoods, WASH and health.

III. Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support and liaison with the Country Director and CCR HQ, including coordination of CCR mandate within the Turkey/Syria operations
  • Liaise and conduct outreach with officials and senior staff of key institutions and other relevant actors on all aspects supporting CCR operations, including initiating and maintaining communication channels between CCR and relevant government institutions
  • Develop, strengthen and maintain strong collaborative relations with key INGOs, NGOs and other humanitarian actors
  • Actively represent CCR in key stakeholder and coordination meetings
  • Prepare agreements between CCR and relevant stakeholders, in close coordination with the country office team and legal advisors
  • Monitor and report on key issues that may influence CCR operations in Turley and Northwest Syria, including political, security and economic dynamics
  • Undertake travels in the region on behalf of CCR
  • Provide timely information and recommendations on developments in the field with regard to CCR operations

IV. Requirements

  • Minimum two years of experience working with INGOs or public administration
  • University degree in law, public relations, communication, or another relevant field
  • In-depth knowledge of Northwest Syria context, donor, INGOs, governmental and other key stakeholder structure
  • Excellent English and Turkish both written and spoken. Arabic is an advantage.
  • Good organizational skills, orientation on detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to identify key issues and take informed decisions
  • Demonstrated professional competence, ability to work under pressure
  • Proactivity in developing strategies, maintaining strategic relationships and providing leadership to CCR team
