Job Description:
The person in this position will be responsible for formulating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the impact of
the programs and projects under their responsibility. They will support ActionAid’s partner organizations in developing
local and national human rights programs and specific projects; lead the assigned thematic area with a
human rights and feminist approach; and contribute to the development and implementation of the Country Strategy and the
Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.
Main Responsibilities
: • Strategy and Organizational Development: Participate in the formulation, updating, and implementation of
ActionAid Guatemala’s Strategy; contribute to the application of the monitoring and evaluation framework; develop the
assigned thematic area; and promote the mission, vision, values, governance policies, and Feminist
Leadership Principles.
• Program and Project Support: Design and implement support plans for the
systematic monitoring and evaluation of implementation; conduct site visits, prepare reports with recommendations, and
accompany delegations visiting programs and projects.
• Territorial monitoring and knowledge management: Monitor the situation in the territories and map
stakeholders, propose adjustments when necessary, contribute institutional analyses, and ensure the safekeeping of
final project documentation.
• Internal coordination and team management: Share information with Programs, Management, Finance,
Solidarity Links, and other areas; present monthly plans and reports; coordinate staff scheduling
and ensure compliance with deadlines, donor commitments, and quality standards.
• External coordination and alliances: Maintain effective communication with partner organizations, counterparts,
development agencies, civil society organizations, government authorities, and ActionAid staff in the
region and the federation.
• Research and advocacy: Maintain contact with government authorities, multilateral organizations, and other
relevant stakeholders; identify and utilize studies and research to strengthen projects,
negotiation efforts, and advocacy processes.
• Context analysis: Develop or compile regular and reliable analyses of the economic, social,
cultural, and political context, as well as its real or potential impacts on programs and projects.
• Financial administration: Analyzing budgets, authorizing purchasing processes, and executing expenditures
Partner organizations, ensuring consistency with the institutional strategy, plans, and policies, in
coordination with the Finance Department.
• Resource and agreement management: Identify potential contributions from other agencies for
partner organizations’ projects and actions, and provide the necessary information for the timely preparation and signing
of cooperation agreements.
Minimum requirements
• Academic background: Graduate with university studies in Social Science related to development.
• Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in development and advocacy projects in the national context,
within development organizations, coalitions, or agencies.
• Institutional approaches: Knowledge of and commitment to social justice, gender justice, gender equity
, and working with community-based organizations, with knowledge of
women’s rights and experience in initiatives related to their promotion and defense.
• Program and project management: Experience in diagnostics, planning, budgeting, and monitoring of
short- and long-term programs and projects.
• Participatory Methodologies: Experience in the application and training of
participatory methodologies and techniques.
• English Language: Intermediate level in comprehension, reading, writing, and conversation, with a willingness to continue
improving.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, and email, with initiative to
incorporate new tools as needed for the position.
• Competencies: Strong writing, analytical, and synthesis skills; management skills; and experience working in a
team.
• Availability: Willingness to travel to territories where ActionAid or its partner organizations have
a presence.
