Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian medical association founded in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened: primarily in cases of armed conflict, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters, or even exclusion from healthcare.
Context :
In France, we have three projects:
– In Ile-de-France. The project has been open since December 2017. Oriented from the outset towards the medical, psychological, social and legal care of unaccompanied minors in appeal (day care and accommodation), it has undergone significant development by specializing in the public of young girls in appeal for recognition of minority. In addition, a mobile clinic activity is run by a team of volunteers
– In Calais. Open in summer 2023. Day center for unaccompanied minors offering respite and activities; mobile clinics for the general public (adults, families, minors), including mental health activities. A coastal patrol activity in support of Utopia 56 is currently being developed.
– In Marseille. Medical, psychological, social and legal support for young boys seeking recognition as minors (inter-association day care and accommodation, which is scheduled to close), support for squats.
Main responsibilities :
Within the French mission of Médecins Sans Frontières, under the hierarchical responsibility of the Communications and Advocacy Manager, the intern participates in the design and implementation of communications (internal and external) and advocacy actions.
Responsibilities :
Media and institutional monitoring
• Monitors thematic news (migration, unaccompanied minors, etc.) in the media and on social networks, as well as the positions taken by key political leaders and other associations.
• Reports to the Communications and Advocacy Manager any news that may have an impact on MSF operations and/or the context of intervention.
Production of communication and advocacy content
• Participates in the collection, monitoring and analysis of data from the mission’s various projects.
• Participates in the development and production of advocacy materials (letters, alert notes, information notes, etc.).
• Contributes to the production of communications (articles, photos, press releases, etc.).
• Ensures the proofreading, editing and translation of certain publications (French – English / English – French).
• May be required to go into the field to contribute to the collection of testimonies from MSF teams or patients.
Media Relations
• In charge of press reviews in support of the Communications and Advocacy Manager and their internal distribution.
• Participates in the regular updating of journalist files.
• May be required to assist the Communications and Advocacy Manager during media visits to projects in Ile-de-France, Calais or Marseille.
Reporting
• Actively participates in reporting activities on communication and advocacy, even the mission.
• Contributes to the production of meeting minutes.
Other activities
• Provides support for the organization of internal and external events, such as seminars, work meetings, etc.
• Produces a general presentation of the France mission for internal teams and provides briefings for new team members.
Profile sought :
Education & Experience
• Master 2 level in Political Science/Communication/Journalism required (Bac+4 or more)
• Previous experience in an NGO would be appreciated
• Knowledge of themes related to migration desirable

Status and Conditions:
• Six-month, full-time internship
• Mandatory internship agreement
• Position based in Paris in the 19th arrondissement, Jaurès metro station. Travel to the various projects of the mission is expected, in connection with the various activities of the position. Travel expenses (transport, accommodation, meals) will be covered by MSF.
• The amount of the gratuity is between €4.35 and €7.70 gross per hour depending on the level of studies.
• 1 restaurant voucher is allocated per day worked, with a face value of €12 (60% covered by Médecins Sans Frontières).
• 50% coverage of public transport subscriptions (no coverage of train tickets for residents outside Ile de France coming to work in Paris)
