Position Title: Communications Intern – Organizational Communications & Knowledge Management

Location: Remote

Internship Term: January–June 2026

Hours: Part-time (approx. 10–15 hours/week)

Compensation: Unpaid

Position Overview

The Communications Intern will provide vital support to the Communications and Programs teams by helping improve internal and external information sharing across the organization. This role blends communications, research, and knowledge management functions—ideal for someone interested in the intersection of storytelling, systems thinking, and organizational learning. Projects will include supporting internal documentation, capturing technical knowledge, and contributing to external messaging for advocacy and education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting internal documents and manuals (e.g., style guides, SOPs, toolkits)
  • Organize and maintain internal knowledge-sharing platforms and digital resource libraries
  • Support internal communication efforts across teams and regions (e.g., newsletters, updates, templates)
  • Contribute to ongoing research and content development for organizational messaging and campaigns
  • Help document communications workflows, style guidance, and tool usage for team onboarding
  • Assist with formatting and editing training materials for internal use
  • Collaborate with program teams to translate complex or technical content into accessible language
  • Other tasks as assigned

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Interest in human rights, nonprofit communications, or knowledge management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and a strong sense of structure, organization, and tone
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Canva, Microsoft SharePoint, or other collaborative platforms is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
  • Comfortable communicating across time zones and cultures
  • Experience with document design, information architecture, or content organization is a bonus
