And what about the Emergency Coordinator in all of this?
As Emergency Coordinator, under the direct supervision of the Head of Mission, you will be responsible for implementing PUI’s emergency response programs in the country. Your responsibilities will include:
- Implementation and coordination of programs : You will coordinate and develop emergency operations in the country, in direct contact with technical, support and field coordination.
- Strategy : You will participate in the development of the strategy and propose new interventions or new methods of emergency response.
- Human Resources : You will organize, supervise and support teams for exploratory missions, assessments and emergency interventions.
- Context assessment and monitoring : You will ensure continuous analysis of humanitarian needs and emergencies as well as the response provided.
- Representation : You will represent the association and ensure coordination with other NGOs and external emergency response actors.
- Security : You will ensure the safety of the teams and contribute to the security management of the mission.
The challenges that await you
- Ensuring a rapid and effective response to the Ebola epidemic
- To ensure operational coordination across 3 provinces (Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu) due to the high risk of spread to these provinces.
- Mobilize the financial resources needed for the response
- Maintaining a safe environment conducive to interventions
What you will need to succeed
- Education : You can provide proof of a higher degree (Master 2 or equivalent) in computer science, systems administration and networks.
- Experience : Have you already worked in an epidemic management context? This will be an undeniable asset!
- Skills : You possess excellent writing skills, as well as strong negotiation, communication, coordination, and organizational abilities. You are proficient in project cycle management and capacity building, and demonstrate a high aptitude for working in unstable environments. You also have a good understanding of the main humanitarian donors and know how to collaborate effectively with various actors and partners.
- Required qualities : You are motivated to work in a humanitarian organization and have an interest in user support. You are organized, rigorous, and have strong communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills. You are responsive, adaptable, and have a good sense of priorities.
- Languages : Are you fluent in French and English? Great, that’s essential for this position!

PUI will offer you (for international candidates)
- Status: Manager on a fixed-term contract
- Gross monthly salary: €2,650.00 – €2,970.00 depending on your experience in international solidarity + €50 per six-month period of service with PUI
- Insurance including medical and supplementary health coverage, 24/7 assistance, repatriation and personal risk insurance

- Living expenses (“Per Diem”)
- Paid Leave Scheme: 5 weeks of paid leave per year
