Focus on our activities in Venezuela
PUI has been addressing humanitarian needs in Venezuela since 2019. The organization structures its intervention through an integrated approach encompassing health, nutrition, mental health and psychosocial support, protection, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
PUI coordinates its programs within the humanitarian cluster system, establishing multi-sectoral partnerships with both national and international NGOs. Projects are implemented in densely populated and vulnerable urban areas as well as in hard-to-reach rural and indigenous communities, supporting both fixed and mobile health clinics.
The emergency coordinator in all of this
As Emergency Coordinator, under the supervision of the Country Director, you will be responsible for the implementation of PUI’s emergency response programs in the country.
The emergency coordinator’s responsibilities include:
- Implementation and coordination of programs: will coordinate and develop the emergency response in the country, in close collaboration with the technical, support and field coordination teams.
- Strategy: will participate in the development of the strategy and will propose new interventions or new emergency response methods.
- Human Resources: will organize, supervise and support the teams in charge of exploratory missions, assessments and emergency response.
- Context assessment and monitoring: you will ensure continuous analysis of needs and response.
- External representation and coordination: will represent the organization and coordinate actions with other NGOs and external actors involved in the emergency response.
- Safety: will ensure the safety of the teams under their supervision and contribute to mission safety management.
The challenges that await him:
The main objectives of this mission include: Assessing immediate needs. Implementing emergency activities. Redesigning PUI’s response strategy to this natural disaster.
What it takes to succeed in this position
- Training
Hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in humanitarian project management. Training in health, livelihoods, agriculture or WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) will be valued, as well as training in personal safety (HEAT – Hostile Environment Awareness Training).
- Experience
At least two years of experience in emergency response or a similar role in an international context. Experience in project coordination and/or humanitarian coordination. Experience in needs assessment, humanitarian access strategies, and negotiation is a plus. Knowledge of health programs, public health, public health systems, and/or multisectoral assistance is also valued. Have you previously worked with Première Urgence Internationale? That would be a significant advantage!
- Skills
Proficient in project cycle management and with a proven ability to build capacity, as well as strong coordination and organizational skills. Possesses excellent writing skills and is familiar with key humanitarian donors. Also possesses strong communication and negotiation skills and the ability to work in volatile environments. Proficient in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Qualities
Ability to work independently and take initiative and responsibility with a proactive approach. A motivated, flexible individual with the ability to adapt to the needs of the team and the organization, and a strong commitment to humanitarian principles. Diplomatic, open-minded, and with excellent stress management skills, as well as strong analytical abilities. An organized person, capable of managing priorities and varied workloads. Possesses leadership and problem-solving skills, and is able to work and manage professionally and maturely. Also able to integrate into the local environment, taking into account its political, economic, and historical characteristics. Furthermore, possesses great resilience in the face of stress.
- Languages
Spanish REQUIRED.
English and/or French highly valued.
Job conditions
- Contract: Limited-term contract – duration 3 months
- Salary: 2,650.00 – 3,130.00 EUR depending on experience in the international humanitarian sector + 50€ per semester of seniority with PUI
- Insurance including medical coverage and supplementary health care, 24-hour assistance and repatriation.
- Accommodation in collective housing.
- Daily living expenses (“Per Diem”)
