Duties
- Provide technical advisory support to the energy administration in defining strategic goals for the implementation of the energy transition and in drafting regulatory provisions to promote renewable energy.
- Identify, develop and foster partnerships and strategic alliances with relevant stakeholders from the public and private sectors, civil society, academia, and strategic partners in the region.
- Provide technical support for the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects together with the private sector including financial aspects (e.g. supporting the acquisition of funds).
- Responsible for conducting studies on the integration of renewable energy and implementation of energy efficiency measures.
- Provide content-related and organizational support for public discourse among relevant actors in national and regional energy policy.
Profile requirements
Qualifications
- University degree in business administration, procurement or supply master’s level degree in engineering or economics, preferably with a focus on renewable energy,
- Candidate must be a Citizen of Grenada or hold a valid work permit for this country.
Professional Experience and required competences
- 5 to 10 years of professional experience in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, battery storage, ideally with part of this experience gained in the Caribbean region,
- At least 3 years of work experience in providing technical assistance to power sector stakeholders and decision-makers on energy planning, regulations, and strategies,
- Practical experience in process facilitation, as well as policy and regulatory advisory for introducing energy service models and facilitating the energy transition overall,
- Proven knowledge of energy policies on a national and regional level,
Languages, applications and other competences
- Excellent communication, diplomatic and interpersonal skills, experience in managing complex and politically sensitive processes,
- Strong networking skills, intercultural sensitivity and ability to identify and engage relevant local as well as international stakeholders, both public and private,
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills,
- Strong team player with excellent facilitation, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
- Excellent communication, diplomatic, and interpersonal skills, as well as experience in managing complex and politically sensitive processes, are all qualities that are essential for this position role,
- Very good organizational and prioritization skills, the ability and interest to work in a team and the willingness to familiarize oneself with new topics,
- Strong advisory skills,
- Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed,
- Willingness to travel in/outside the region regularly,
- Work experience with a private sector company and/or project developer
- Valid driver’s license or willingness to acquire one.
