A day in the life of a Food Assistance and Livelihood Technical Lead:

In the role of Food Assistance and Livelihood Technical Lead, you will have the opportunity to:
- In Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
- Provide technical support to food assistance, food security, livelihoods and resilience initiatives, including the development, adaptation, and scaling-up of specific project models.
- Explore potential funding sources for programs and help to develop a sustainable pipeline for Food Assistance and Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) grants. This requires working with appropriate grants staff and actively seeking new opportunities.
- Ensure that programs and initiatives are implemented in alignment within ministry objectives and executed at higher quality.
- In consultation with the National Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Manager, supports and coordinates field teams to report on program activities within Platform (DHIS2).
- Systematically document project impact, lessons learned, and monitoring information in close collaboration with the MEL team.
- Continuously review technical literature and research being produced within the sectors to develop new and innovative programs in close coordination with other relevant staff.
- Ensure the availability of current, relevant, and detailed market information to help improve program surveillance and proposal development. This may require working with the MEL team to develop relevant mark surveys.
- Identify learning and training opportunities for national staff and works as a mentor for less experienced team members.
- Liaises with Human Resources, area coordinators, and program managers to ensure all program staff receive the necessary and appropriate technical support.
- Represent the country office at meetings, relevant clusters, and working groups as outlined in the job summary. Further coordinates representation by Food Assistance and FSL staff at other national and state-level meetings.
- Regularly communicates with global technical advisors to share project updates, key findings and issues, and seeks technical support whenever necessary.
- 5% of time in contact with Samaritan’s Purse beneficiaries (children, young adults, adults at risk) promoting and safeguarding their welfare within the context of Samaritan’s Purse operations.
- Follow policies and procedures of Samaritan’s Purse as set forth in the Policy Manual.
- Attend daily morning devotions and participates in prayer support for the ministry, donors, and volunteers.
- Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, volunteers, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public within the workplace, in the community, and before the general public.
- Reflect Godly character by conducting activities in a manner consistent with the Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Christian Code of Conduct, Statement of Fidelity to the Holy Scriptures and Distinct Objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors’ degree in agriculture, forestry, or environmental science with five (5) to ten (10) years of humanitarian work or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Substantial experience in the design, implementation, and management of FSL programs within the humanitarian sectors. Experience in agricultural extension activities.
- Experience with proposal development, grant management and report writing; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Advanced knowledge of UNWFP regulations and standard food assistance operations management.
- Thorough understanding of FSL programs in protracted emergency setup, including graduation from poverty, early warning early action (EWEA), resilience, cash-transfer programming, gender-sensitive livelihoods and income-generating activities.
- Knowledge of institutional donors and in developing funding proposals and reports for a range of institutional and other donors.
- Capacity to engage with individuals and team by establishing technical relationships.
- Good knowledge of the project cycle.
- Good report writing and reviewing skills.
- Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills
- Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.
Job Location: Juba, South Sudan
Type: Full-Time
Language Requirement: Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset.
Accompaniment: Unaccompanied
Travel Expectations: This position requires domestic and international travel of approximately 75 days/year. Travel within South Sudan up to 30% of the time. Maintaining required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary.
