This internship is part of an academic, professional, or socio-professional integration training program and must meet the conditions set by the Employment Market Monitoring Council (CSME). The duration of the internship, as stipulated in the tripartite agreement, is 6 to 9 months at 100%.

Context & Mission

Doctors Without Borders is an independent international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, to people affected by natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, beliefs or political affiliation (MSF Charter).

The internship is directly integrated within the GIS Centre, whose coordination is based in Geneva. The internship will cover needs and support for all MSF Operational Centres related to the GIS Centre’s mandate.

The intern will provide daily support to the MSF GIS (Geographical Information System) Centre in the development and implementation of tasks in the areas of graphic design and communication (internal and external).

Main responsibilities

  • Design, production and layout of various communication documents:
    • Organization of interviews with GIS Specialists upon their return from deployments, on the basis of which field sheets are produced (content and form – support from the Cartography Intern).
    • Coordination, design and production of GIS Flash Info (every 3 months)
    • Design of templates for technical datasheets
    • Maintenance of communication documentation on the GeoMSF platform.
  • Management of the GIS’s YouTube and SharePoint platforms
  • Contribution to the establishment and implementation of the communication plan stemming from the communication strategy
  • Contribute to the development of the GIS Centre graphic charter and ensure its proper application.
  • Participation in the organization of GIS events (Mapathon and GIS Week)
  • Maintenance des templates Office: Word / PPT
  • Review and improvement of communication materials according to the target audience: presentations of the GIS Centre: external, internal…
  • Ad-hoc support for OC communication equipment
  • Participation in strategic meetings: note-taking and drafting of minutes (task shared with the Data Management Intern).

Desired profile

  • Currently enrolled in or completing a higher education program
  • To be eligible for an internship agreement with a third party
  • Experience in the non-profit and/or humanitarian sectors is an asset.
  • Experience as a graphic designer is an asset
  • Excellent command of the Adobe suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of YouTube and SharePoint platforms is an asset
  • Excellent command of French
  • Excellent command of English

Working conditions

  • Mandatory tripartite internship agreement
  • 6 to 9 month internship at 100% (depending on the internship agreement)
  • Based in Geneva
  • Effective date: September 7, 2026
  • Gross monthly salary: CHF 2,000.-
