Strategic leader for corporate partnerships and major donors
About the position
A collaborative and commercially driven Head of Corporate & Major Donors. You lead the Corporates & Major Donors (C&MD) team, one of the three fundraising teams within War Child Netherlands (WCNL), responsible for fundraising from companies and major donors. You are a member of the Management Team (MT). You guide the strategy, actively reach out to create new opportunities, and ensure that these are translated into concrete results and growth together with the team.
Your responsibilities
Strategy and leadership
- Translate the War Child Netherlands and Alliance strategy into strategic priorities for the team and actively collaborate with the Management Team and the War Child Alliance to do so.
- Determine the strategic priorities for the team and manage for realization and impact.
- Make decisions at the Management Team level and tackle complex issues within WCNL.
Commercial development & partnerships
- Develop and realize sustainable partnerships with companies, foundations, and major donors, aimed at growing revenue and impact.
- Actively go out, build a relevant network, and create new commercial opportunities for WCNL.
- Develop strong propositions together with the team and translate opportunities into concrete partnerships and revenue.
- Focus on growth of existing and new revenue streams and on a healthy commercial pipeline.
- Represent WCNL externally and increase the visibility, network, and support base for War Child.
Target- & resultaatmanagement
- Set ambitious, realistic targets and manage for realization.
- Monitor performance, analyze results, and turn lessons learned into concrete improvement actions.
- Report progress and risks to the management periodically.
Team & organizational development
- Lead, develop and connect the C&MD fundraising team.
- Ensure the right staffing and capacity, including recruitment, performance management, and career development.
- Monitor well-being and workload and adjust where necessary.
- Embrace the War Child values ​​and build an inclusive and results-oriented culture.
- Encourage knowledge sharing, learning, and continuous improvement within and between teams.
Risk, governance & compliance
- Ensure compliance with donor conditions, legislation, ethics, and safeguarding standards.
- Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and reputational risks; escalate material issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure transparent accountability to the management and the board.
Resources & operational management
- Oversee annual budgeting and prioritize based on return on investment (ROI), and ensure that resource planning contributes to organizational goals.
- Work data-driven: use management information and KPIs for steering.
- Encourage continuous improvement and ROI monitoring in all fundraising activities.
What we offer
- Salary ranges from €5,285 to €6,571 gross per month, based on 40 hours per week (the exact amount is determined by the years of your relevant work experience);
- 8% holiday allowance based on the annual salary;
- An employment contract for 32-40 hours;
- 29 vacation days per year on a full-time basis (of which 3 pre-determined days off);
