Head of Risk and Assurance At Oxfam

Oxfam International is looking for the Head of Risk and Assurance.

About The Role

Lead the coordination and production of the Oxfam Global Risk Report, consolidating inputs from affiliates, regions, platforms, and functional leads, and ensuring reporting highlights key trends, systemic issues, interdependencies, mitigation actions, and areas requiring leadership attention.

Coordinate the production of the Oxfam International Secretariat (OIS) Risk Report in collaboration with functional teams and senior leadership, ensuring alignment with Confederation-wide risk frameworks and reporting requirements for FRAC and the Oxfam Board.
•
Lead the continuous development and implementation of Oxfam’s Risk Management and Appetite Framework, including improvements to methodologies, reporting approaches, governance arrangements, dashboards, and assurance mechanisms.

Lead strategic oversight of organisational risks across the Confederation, including operational, financial, governance, safeguarding, compliance, information security, people and culture, reputational, and geopolitical risks.
•
Facilitate risk review and escalation processes, ensuring emerging and cross-cutting risks are identified, tracked, and communicated appropriately to relevant leadership and governance bodies.
•
Convene and coordinate risk-focused communities of practice and working groups to promote harmonisation, peer learning, consistency of methodologies, and collaboration across the Confederation.
•
Coordinate and monitor compliance and assurance initiatives related to areas such as anti-terrorism financing, anti-corruption, safeguarding, and broader integrity and accountability obligations.
•
Lead the review, development, and updating of risk and compliance-related policies, procedures, standards, and guidance documents, ensuring alignment with legal obligations, sector standards, and organisational priorities.
•
Lead the integration and streamlining of risk and compliance processes within wider organisational harmonisation and transformation initiatives.
•
Develop high-quality briefing materials, dashboards, analysis, and presentations for senior leadership, governance bodies, and strategic decision-making forums.
•
Contribute to strengthening a proactive, learning-oriented, and values-led risk culture across Oxfam

Ideal candidate for the role will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Governance, Business Administration, International Development, Law, Finance, Public Administration, Organisational Management, or another relevant field.
  • Advanced training or professional certification in risk management, audit, compliance, governance, or assurance is an asset.
  • Over 7 years of relevant professional experience in risk management, assurance, governance, compliance, audit, organisational accountability, or related fields within complex organisations.
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge and ris and assurance experience, ideally in large and complex organisations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesise complex information into clear, strategic, and decision-useful reporting.
  • Experience developing or improving risk management frameworks, reporting tools, policies, procedures, or governance mechanisms.
  • Strong facilitation, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to navigate complexity and influence across functions and levels of seniority.
  • Ability to identify systemic trends, interdependencies, and emerging risks within dynamic organisational and geopolitical contexts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including drafting reports and presenting to senior leadership or governance bodies.
  • Experience supporting organisational change, transformation, or harmonisation initiatives.
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Commitment to Oxfam’s values, feminist principles, safeguarding commitments, and values-led leadership approach.
