About the Chain of Hope

La Chaîne de l’Espoir is an international NGO founded in 1994. Its mission is to strengthen health systems to give everyone, especially children, the same chances of survival and development.
We operate in 28 countries through a comprehensive approach, centered on children but also on mothers and disadvantaged communities:

  • Prevention and screening from a very early age, particularly as part of school health programs.
  • Care and surgery, to meet the most urgent needs of children and their mothers.
  • Training and skills transfer to local teams thanks to our international network of experts in all areas of surgery.
  • Construction and equipment of hospital structures adapted to local needs.

Context
As part of its strategy to develop its expertise in hospital engineering, and with the ambition of becoming a reference in infrastructure and biomedical matters in the field of international emergency aid and development, Chaîne de l’Espoir wishes to implement a capitalization approach. In order to launch this work, it is, as a first step, fundamental to carry out a sorting and then a relevant classification of the server.

Position
La Chaîne de l’Espoir is seeking an archivist intern in the Infrastructure & Biomedical Department to support its team in the management and organization of our server archives.

Attached to the Infrastructure & Biomedical Department, the intern will support the Department’s activities and contribute to the development of its tools.

The general supervision of the intern will be provided by the Technical Coordinator of the Department, the intern will work in close collaboration with the entire team of the Infrastructure and Biomedical Department, volunteers, certain partners as well as other departments of the Chaîne de l’Espoir.

Main activities
To this end, the archivist intern will carry out a certain number of missions, namely:

  • Continue the development of the established classification methodology (file names, file type listing, sub-folder tree structure, creation of sub-folders within a common tree structure, etc.) of the server for different files: operational within each project/country, theoretical on a database and library, network, on a partner contact base.
  • Continue cataloging the existing documents by sorting, renaming and organizing the documents present on the server according to the chosen method.
  • In continuation of the established methodology, collect missing documents, then list them and collect them from partners, volunteers or within La Chaîne de l’Espoir itself.
  • Digitize collected paper documents to facilitate their classification on the server.
  • Carry out monitoring within the Infrastructure and Biomedical Department, on the regular server update system.
  • Organize internal training sessions within the Infrastructure & Biomedical Department, initially, and with other departments of the Chaîne de l’Espoir, subsequently, in order to present this methodology and give them the keys to knowing how to use this server. Possible collaborations with the IT department to develop a SharePoint structure and relevant training for document management.
  • Develop an Intranet structure and finalize the Sharepoint structure.
  • Update of the specifications for the archives project.
  • Implementation of physical archiving within the Department.

Alongside these main missions, the archivist intern could be required to support the team in updating the Document Policy, continuing the necessary technical methodological guides and enriching the toolbox created.

REQUIRED PROFILE

Education / Experience:
Master’s degree in the fields of documentation and archiving.

Desired skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrate methodology and rigor.
  • Show initiative and be able to work independently.
  • Listening skills
  • Have organizational and adaptability skills
  • Have good interpersonal skills in order to join a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate a spirit of synthesis and have writing skills
  • Know how to use IT and digital tools
  • Interests in international solidarity and hospital engineering would be a plus.

Conditions

  • 6-month internship
  • Full-time internship, based at the association’s headquarters in Paris, 75015.
  • Meal vouchers worth 12.10 euros covered at 60%
  • 50% transport subscription reimbursement or sustainable mobility allowance (bicycle) of 40 euros/month
  • Amount of the gratuity: €4.35/hour, according to the legal scale and on a basis of 35 hours/week
  • Internship start date: October 2025
