Context/ Project Specifics
For several weeks, the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been spreading rapidly, including to new health zones, in a context marked by security challenges and difficulties in accessing populations. This evolution complicates detection, case monitoring, and medical care activities, requiring continuous strengthening of response capacities on the ground.
In this context, MSF Switzerland is deploying and strengthening its teams to contribute to surveillance, prevention and patient care activities in the affected areas.
As part of this response, we are looking for experienced professionals in Health Promotion in humanitarian contexts and with one or more specific experiences in responding to the Ebola epidemic.

Responsibilities
As Health Promotion and Community Engagement (HPCE) Manager, your main responsibilities are as follows:
- To be responsible for the design/development of a strategy, activities, tools and a regularly updated HPCE monitoring system.
- Ensure the implementation of participatory approaches and consultation with patients and the community before and during the implementation of the HPCE strategy
- Ensure that the appropriate process is followed for the design of health education materials and participatory methods (pre-testing, content validation, translation)
- Provide technical input and support for situation analysis (rapid assessments/surveys/monitoring of rumors and public opinion) and ensure that the project team receives a final report and feedback.
- Oversee the implementation of community surveillance (data collection, active case finding, liaison with healthcare, contact tracing)
- Contribute to updating the community map
- Follow the HPCE team’s development plan, based on needs assessment, as well as monitoring capacity development through training, coaching, and community of practice events.
Depending on the activities and needs, your level of responsibility may be adapted and evolve according to the specifics of each project and the composition of the field team. You will not be alone in meeting these challenges. Other MSF staff members (international and local teams) will provide you with support.

Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, public health, with a focus on health promotion/community health (or a diploma in community health nursing), or equivalent relevant experience
- Two years of professional experience in similar positions (health promotion and community engagement)
- Experience on an epidemic response to the Ebola virus or other hemorrhagic fever viruses
- Experience in designing, implementing and monitoring strategies
- Experience in using qualitative methodologies
- Experience in team management
- Proficiency in French
- Good team spirit, ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Flexibility and stress resistance
- Responsible behavior contributing to the safety and integrity of everyone – preventing, reporting and refusing any abusive behavior and/or behavior contrary to MSF values
- Availability for a 6-week rotation + 3 weeks of follow-up
