This internship is part of an academic, professional, or socio-professional integration training program and must meet the conditions set by the Employment Market Monitoring Council (CSME). The duration of the internship, as stipulated in the tripartite agreement, is 6 to 9 months at 100%.

Context & Mission

Doctors Without Borders is an independent international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, to people affected by natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, beliefs or political affiliation (MSF Charter).

The digital unit is one of eight business units within the Communications and Fundraising Department. Based in Geneva and Zurich, it comprises eight staff members. Its mission is to develop and retain audiences on digital channels to strengthen MSF’s communications and support donor acquisition. It is also responsible for the design, development, and administration of MSF’s digital ecosystem.

The intern will join the digital unit and work closely with all its members, in particular with the French-speaking social media manager.

Educational objectives of the internship:

  • Acquire and develop the skills necessary for the design, publication and management of content on social networks, including Instagram and Facebook;
  • Develop skills in project management, coordination and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders;
  • To become familiar with the digital communication practices and tools of an international humanitarian organization.

Main responsibilities

The intern will be required to:

  • Manage social media: publish content, monitor and manage community on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and TikTok;
  • Create content for different digital channels using Canva, CapCut or similar tools, including on-camera content if the candidate wishes;
  • Supporting the digital unit in the implementation of digital communication or fundraising campaigns;
  • To monitor the latest trends in social media and digital communication;
  • Follow the translation of content and publish content on the msf.ch website.

Desired profile

Requirements

  • Interest in social media and good knowledge of trends and best practices;
  • Good command of the formats and codes specific to different social media platforms;
  • Excellent writing skills in French;
  • Good oral and written knowledge of English; German is an asset;
  • Knowledge of visual content creation and video editing (e.g. Canva, CapCut).

Personal skills

  • Creativity and ability to offer content adapted to the uses of social networks;
  • Strong interest in humanitarian work;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and team spirit;
  • Proactivity, rigor and a sense of organization.

Working conditions

  • Mandatory tripartite internship agreement
  • 6 to 9 month internship at 100% (depending on the internship agreement)
  • Based in Geneva
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Gross monthly salary: CHF 2,000.-
