Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Implementer At MSF – Holland

Addressing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) has been identified as a priority for MSF OCA. According to the various exchanges and discussions on different platforms, there is a need to increase the knowledge and commit to actions on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

MSF OCA recognises the need to identify and challenge structural and institutional barriers and discriminatory practices, with the goal of enabling the MSF community to feel supported and free to contribute their best, regardless of the dimensions of diversity that they identify with.

Department and Reporting:

The DEI Implementer will be part of the OCA DEI Advisory team and hierarchically reports to the Senior DEI Advisor and functionally to the DEI Advisor.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative is articulated around 3 objectives:

  • Coordinate a programme of work, to bring together high-level initiatives in relation to DEI ambitions in OCA programs;
  • Contribute to plans and actions to create a safe space within MSF OCA to be a more inclusive and supportive environment;
  • Collate and prepare monthly report on progress made on DEI activities and initiatives and present opportunities and barriers to the county Management Team and DEI advisors.

Main areas of accountability:

  • Identify and assess barriers toward DEI, and plan activities to overcome the barriers/ challenges;
  • Supports countries with the implementation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion activities;
  • Implement, monitor, change and evaluate the incorporation of DEI activities in all country programme’s services, plans and activities.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Orientation

  • Identify barriers towards DEI with a focus on the projects, and services provided to the communities MSF serve;
  • Identify gaps on DEI at programmatic level and supports HR in defining strategies to overcome those gaps.

Project Management

Develop, implement and monitor the DEI workplan for the different countries.

  • Act as a sparring partner for the country programs on how to improve/align their activities and processes to the MSF OCA DEI ambitions and objectives;
  • Liaise with MSF OCA DEI Advisory Team to identify and implement the right project tools for ensuring follow up of DEI activities;
  • Coordinates the review of existing processes, policies, rituals, systems, tools, spaces, etc. to identify obstacles that might constitute a barrier for DEI and leads the way for transformation where needed to help advance the DEI agenda;

Collaborate closely with all departments, both in coordination and projects, in particular:

  • Collaborate with the Responsible Behaviour Unit (RBU) for an inclusive, and safe system and space for all MSF stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with L&D colleagues facilitate DEI modules and awareness sessions.

Internal Communications

  • Construct an engagement, communications and accountability plan until end of current Strategic plan to enable a structured approach for the sharing of the DEI story;
  • Keep the MSF OCA DEI advisors, HoM and HRCO involved at pertinent moments and updated on activities and progress for DEI initiatives, objectives and plans;
  • Actively support DEI initiatives and ensure coordination and communication and identify ways of incorporating DEI as a cross cutting theme in all key departments/projects.

Requirements:

  • Degree in social science, human rights law, anthropology, psychology, sociology or any lived experience related area is required;
  • Previous experience (2-3 years) in similar projects and organization of multiple events and activities;
  • Languages: English is a must, Arabic and French are extremely valuable.

Competences

  • Passionate, knowledgeable and actively continuously learning on the topic of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion;
  • MSF experience or good knowledge of MSF is highly desirable;
  • Experience in implementing DEI projects is essential;
  • Able to quickly adapt to highly changeable environments and find swift ways to implement action with a short induction;
  • Empathy and ability to inclusively work with a wide variety of staff members, association members with demonstrated experience in cross cultural awareness;
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and in writing;
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills, as well as being a team player.

  • For this full-time role, the salary (and benefits) is determined on relevant professional experience and are aligned with local policies depending on where the role is based. More details will be discussed during the selection phase.

Duration:

12 months full time contract (with extension) 70% travel and 30% office, starting as soon as possible.
