General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of the conflict-affected population. Since its establishment, Orange has partners directly with affected Syrian populations delivering programs spanning sectors, including humanitarian and development programs, in the Early Recovery and Livelihoods, Food Security and agriculture, Education and Protection, WASH, and Shelter, in addition to long-term impact interventions focusing on the economic empowerment and the local value chains improvements to enable targeted communities to improve their living practices and their sustainable mechanisms. Orange collaborates with a variety of national and international non-governmental organizations, as well as local initiatives, to adopt a community-based approach that leads to improving the response’s impact on the humanitarian crisis and provides sustainable and alternative solutions.

Job Purpose:

Orange Organization is actively engaged in implementing a variety of Education programs across Northwest Syria. The primary goal of Orange’s Education Program is to bolster the skills of education professionals, deepen the understanding of child safeguarding within educational contexts, and thereby elevate the quality of educational content and methodologies. This, in turn, is aimed at enhancing the educational outcomes for Syrian children.

The Education Officer will play a crucial role in the implementation of comprehensive education projects, ensuring these projects align with Orange’s educational framework and uphold the organization’s standards. This position entails regular coordination with the field team to follow up the daily progress of activities, alongside meticulous oversight of project tasks to guarantee their successful implementation. The Education Officer will collaborate closely with various support departments to ensure the quality implementation of all educational activities.

Duties, objectives, and competencies:

Project Implementation

  • Day-to-day follow-up to implement the project work plans as per the agreed timelines and quality standards.
  • Supervise and mentor staff involved in educational activities to ensure high-quality implementation.
  • Ensure that educational best practices are integrated into all activities and that all team members are knowledgeable about student safety and well-being policies.
  • Generate timely internal reports that meet donor requirements and project objectives.
  • Contribute to the assessments, research, and evaluations to capture needs, best practices, and lessons learned in education projects.
  • Engage community participation in project implementation through appropriate mechanisms, addressing the needs of vulnerable groups.

Staff Management:

  • Ensure effective communication and coordination with field staff/team for efficient program implementation.
  • Conduct regular coordination meetings with key team members and maintain open lines of communication with the whole team.

Procurement:

  • Collaborate with logistics/procurement teams to prepare and submit purchase requests, including all necessary BoQs and technical specifications, to ensure high-quality services and supplies.

Financial Management:

  • Monitor project spending against the budget, following Orange’s financial procedures and guidelines.
  • Develop and follow a clear work and expenditure plan, ensuring the program is implemented within the approved budget and timeframe.

Reporting:

  • Report on all project activities to the line manager, adhering to donor requirements and deadlines.
  • Immediately report any security challenges and submit incident reports as necessary.
  • Contribute to the education cluster reports.

Networking:

  • Represent Orange at local and national coordination forums and working groups related to education programming.
  • Regularly update various stakeholders, including staff, donors, media, UN agencies, and networks, on educational programs and developments.
  • Coordinate with other implementing partners to ensure harmonized interventions and prevent activity overlap.

Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Ensure all activities comply with the logical framework and the project’s M&E plan, including regular data analysis and timely reporting to stakeholders.
  • Familiarize related staff with M&E methodologies and requirements, ensuring accurate monthly data collection and analysis.

Other:

  • Fully commit to and follow Orange’s Code of Conduct.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, education, or a related area of study.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in non-profit organizations, demonstrating growing responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the education sector.
  • Effective communication abilities, capable of engaging with various groups and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent planning skills.
  • English fluency (speaking, writing, and reading).
  • Diligent, forward-thinking, and proficient in managing and prioritizing a challenging workload.
