This internship is part of an academic training program, a professional training program or a socio-professional integration program and must meet the conditions set by the Employment Market Surveillance Council ( CSME).
Context & Mission
Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, those affected by natural or man-made disasters and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and regardless of race , religion, beliefs or political affiliation (MSF Charter).
The Philanthropy unit is one of the 6 business units of the Department of Communication and Fundraising. Made up of 17 people, it raised more than CHF 70 million last year from individuals, foundations, companies and Cantons/Communities.
The Fundraising Intern will work in close collaboration with all members of the Philanthropy unit, with members of the Communication and Fundraising department as well as those from other MSF departments.
Main responsibilities
Support for fundraising activities
- Updating the database according to new information (addresses, telephone, email, etc.)
- Writing and processing thank you letters
- Help with monitoring contact portfolios (cantons/municipalities, companies, foundations, etc.)
- Occasional support for the organization of events
- Telephone contacts with certain donors for ad hoc projects
- Support for loyalty and reactivation activities for different targets
- Participation in prospecting for specific information on major donors (companies, foundations, individuals, and cantons/municipalities)
- Support for French/English translation and proofreading (other languages desirable)
- Assistance with writing and proofreading files, fundraising appeals (proposals), reports and PowerPoint presentations for major donors
Administrative Support
- Support for tracking donations
- Participation and report of the minutes of the unit meetings
- Preparation of micro-mailings (formatting, direct mailing, sending)
- Assistance in recruiting the next intern
Required profile
- University level training
- Be eligible for an internship agreement with a third party
- Experience in associative and/or humanitarian environments is an asset
- Previous experience (internship or other) welcome
- Mastery of common IT tools (MS Office suite, 365)
- Experience in CRM, a plus
- French and English: Excellent Mastery
- Knowledge of German and Italian: a plus
- Proactivity, autonomy, spirit of initiative, rigor and sense of organization
- Good ability to adapt to a multicultural work environment
Working conditions
- Mandatory tripartite internship agreement
- Internship 6 to 12 months at 100% (depending on the internship agreement)
- Based in Geneva
- Start date: As soon as possible
- Gross monthly salary: CHF 2,000.-
