General Description of the Organization:

Ghiras Al-Nahda is a Non-profit Non-governmental humanitarian organization working to empower people by fulfilling their basic needs and seeking to improve community stability and resilience.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a part-time, detail-oriented, and analytical Internal Auditor to join our team. The Internal Auditor will be responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the organization. Reporting to the Board of Management (Trustees), the Internal Auditor will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies while identifying areas for operational improvement.

This vacancy may be employment or service contracting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Conducting internal audits to assess the adequacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of internal controls and risk management processes.

2. Developing audit plans and programs to address identified risks and control deficiencies.

3. Performing testing of controls and documenting audit procedures and findings in accordance with established standards.

4. Identifying areas for improvement in internal controls, policies, and procedures, and making recommendations to management for enhancements.

5. Evaluating compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and organization policies and procedures.

6. Communicating audit findings and recommendations to the board of management through clear and concise written reports and presentations.

7. Collaborating with the board of management to develop action plans to address audit findings and track the implementation of corrective actions.

8. Providing support and guidance to management and staff on internal control best practices and risk mitigation strategies.

9. Staying abreast of changes in regulations, and emerging risks to ensure audit processes remain relevant and effective.

10. Participating in special projects and investigations as assigned by the board of management

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. CPA, CIA, or other relevant certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in internal auditing, risk management, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of internal control concepts, risk assessment methodologies, and audit techniques in the humanitarian organizations especially in the Syrian context.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, evaluate risks, and develop solutions.
  • Proficiency in using audit software, data analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ethical conduct and professionalism in handling confidential information and sensitive situations.
