Major Gifts Coordinator / Specialist At Natün Guatemala

Natün Guatemala is a non-profit, multidisciplinary, majority Maya-led organization passionate about elevating the leadership, rights and capacity of Indigenous people in Guatemala. Our mission is to advance education, nutrition & health and economic development, through culturally-relevant, community-led initiatives which build on existing resources and knowledge.

Natün is proud to have a diverse funding model, where grant funding allows for design and institutional strengthening, complemented by a significant proportion of individual and group donors with potential to increase income, placing us in a positive position to meet the needs of the community in the long-term.

The Major Gifts Coordinator / Specialist will support our Fundraising department, in managing existing high-level donors, and proactively reaching out and finding new major gifts prospects. We are looking for a proactive self-starter, who enjoys relationship-building and interacting with people, and has ideas to diversify funding sources. The ideal candidate is passionate about creating opportunities for our programs through finding sustainable funding opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Natün’s existing portfolio of high-giving individual and group donors, working closely with the Executive Director to engage their interest in our work
  • Build and nurture strong ongoing relationships with major funders, including individuals, foundations, corporate partners and community groups, and Natün’s Sustainers Circle, our group of most involved donors
  • Identify potential funding opportunities aligned with Natün’s work, generating ideas on increasing revenue and donor retention
  • Proactively reach out to new high-giving funding sources and partnerships, securing financial support from new sources of funding
  • Strategize to tap into the potential of increasing income-generation from the corporate sector, and donors in Guatemala
  • Collect data from across the Fundraising department, to analyze donor and giving trends which shape fundraising strategies

Profile

  • Fluent in English and intermediate-advanced Spanish
  • Experience working in non-profit organizations
  • Experience working with donors and fundraising, with proven success in finding funding
  • Skills in managing Google Drive, spreadsheets and databases
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to adapt writing style to different audiences
  • Great verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Independent, self-starting work ethic
  • Organized, highly detail-oriented and able to work to deadlines
  • Kind, collaborative attitude
  • Excited to learn more about Indigenous-led work and passionate about local Indigenous leadership
  • Interest in the multicultural context of rural Indigenous communities in Sololá / Guatemala

The successful applicant could work from Guatemala (location flexible) or at our offices in Panajachel, Sololá, but we are also open to other possibilities of location and modality.
