Meal Coordinator At Action against Hunger Spain

Responsible for strengthening and harmonizing monitoring approaches, developing common tools and standards across bases, planning and implementing monitoring and review activities, planning and managing external evaluations, as well as liaising with sectoral and geographic leaders on monitoring and harmonization of standards. Accompanies and strengthens the MEAL capabilities of the mission and local partners for the use of evidence (data and reports) in making technical and operational decisions, and facilitating internal and external coordination.

In coordination with the technical team, it supports during the project cycle in the identification and evaluation of needs, monitoring of activities, accountability to beneficiaries and donors through information management and analysis, producing reports and evaluations. It is responsible for guiding the development of information products based on data, graphs, maps and others that support evidence for the identification of scenarios and making technical and operational decisions.

Leads the management of mission information archives and repository systems.

The main activities you will perform are the following:

Objective 1: Coordinate the department, processes and Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning (MEAL) activities.

  • Ensures timely and appropriate management of information and data analysis. Coordinates the mission’s quantitative and qualitative analytical studies and processes, including baseline analyses, exit lines, assessments, vulnerability analyses, post-distribution monitoring, reporting and evaluations.
  • Design the corresponding tools under quantitative and qualitative methodologies for the collection, processing and analysis of information.
  • Develops, in coordination with the technical team, the methodology, plan, tools, follow-up, and analysis of the monitoring and evaluation of project activities and conducts site visits for supervision. Analyzes the information collected, and develops different products for communication, with different target audiences (internal and external).
  • Supports and/or leads the preparation of technical studies, exploratory missions, positioning documents. Coordinates the MEAL team to ensure the necessary support and resources to perform their duties according to required quality compliance standards.

Objective 2: Capacity development and contribution to quality standards. Strengthens the technical capabilities of the mission’s MEAL team and local partners.

  • Defines an internal and external training plan with specific quarterly objectives and implements the same.
  • Development of monitoring and information and project management systems and tools in Venezuela, creating and permanently updating them.
  • Provides technical assistance and promotes training activities for partners’ MEAL team on new processes or tools.

Objective 3: Accountability and learning. Ensures that each partner implements a beneficiary feedback mechanism harmonized with those of ACH.

  • It ensures that MEAL information has the participation of the target communities and facilitates the return of information to the communities and in a popular language.
  • Actively participates in the design and implementation of strategies and activities for knowledge management and lessons learned exercises.
  • Participates in meetings, Work Groups and forums, ensuring coordination and communication on tools, processes and problem solving.

Objective 4: Security management: Comply with the mission security plan and ensure compliance with the plan in the team in charge.

  • Performs security management tasks that may be assigned in your protocols. Communicate any information related to safety or non-compliance with the safety plan to workplace safety managers.

Does this description fit you?

  • University professional preferably in areas of social sciences, statistics, international relations or economics with specialization in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience in project cycle management, research, data collection and management and knowledge of quantitative/qualitative analysis of activities, programs, and humanitarian context.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills. Production of informative notes, situation and donor reports, and graphics and visual products.
  • 3 years, minimum, in the humanitarian sector, in MEAL areas, information management and/humanitarian project management.
  • Desirable: Experience working with partners/counterparts for capacity development.
  • Languages: oral and written fluency in Spanish is required. Intermediate level of spoken and written English is desirable.
  • Windows proficiency: advanced command of Word, Excel, and Power Point, email, and Internet management for research activities is essential.
  • Use of tools such as Kobo and PowerBI; ArcGIS or similar (desirable). Management of communication tools: Adobe Powerpoint, InDesign and Illustrator (desirable).

    2. Two (2) trips for Breaks (R&R) per year according to the established reference area.
    3. Per Diem of 215 euros for each Break Trip (paid in Mission).
    4. Shared housing -Guest house-.
    5. Return ticket to country of origin.
