How can you make a difference? Key functions / Responsibilities

The Logistics Coordinator will have the main responsibility of designing, structuring and leading the comprehensive strategy of the supply chain, warehousing, transport flows and inventory control of the emergency response, ensuring the adequate and safe provision of the goods required by the project and subsidiaries, maximizing the efficiency of resources in line with the strategic objectives of the Venezuelan Red Cross.

He/She will be in charge of:

  • Design and implement the master logistics and supply chain plan for earthquake response, coordinating with the national and international Logistics Cluster.
  • Establish, standardize and maintain institutional procedures for the receipt, storage, inventory control and dispatch of items at the national level.
  • Design the distribution and mass shipment strategy for goods and humanitarian aid to the various branches of the Venezuelan Red Cross, ensuring compliance with international logistics standards.
  • Supervise the project’s inventory control system at a macro level, ensuring that global stock information is accurate, reliable, and auditable.
  • Lead internal logistics audit processes, evaluating cycle count reports and ordering corrective actions for any discrepancies detected.
  • Coordinate strategically with the Programs, Health, and Finance departments to align storage and transportation capacity with the project’s operational priorities.
  • Monitor and regularly update the consolidated logistics and inventory cluster database, ensuring accurate information for senior management decision-making.
  • To guarantee the effectiveness and efficiency in the execution of all logistical processes within the response times required by the emergency.
  • Develop and promote training, induction and awareness processes on policies, safe access protocols and logistical procedures for all staff and volunteers.
  • Direct and evaluate the performance of the team under your direct responsibility (Officer, Logistics Assistant and Warehouse Assistant), ensuring the care of institutional assets.
  • Perform other strategic tasks assigned by your immediate superiors to contribute to the operational success of the organization.

Workplace

Caracas, with availability to travel nationwide.

To qualify as a builder of the Venezuelan humanitarian system, you must meet the following requirements:

  • University degree in engineering, logistics, business administration, or related fields. Postgraduate studies or international certifications in humanitarian logistics or supply chain management are desirable.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the general coordination of logistics operations, fleet management and supply chain administration in humanitarian aid or disaster contexts.
  • Proven experience in the planning and efficient execution of mass supply and multi-sector distribution plans.
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced inventory management systems and logistics control software.
  • Leadership skills for large teams, ability to work under high pressure on flexible schedules and in multicultural environments.
  • Experience working with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and strict adherence to the institution’s Fundamental Principles.
