Position: Field Manager (Tajikistan-based)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of field research activities across selected regions of Tajikistan, ensuring compliance with national regulations, ethical standards, safeguarding requirements, and community engagement protocols.
- Supervise and support enumerators and field research teams, ensuring high-quality, ethical, and timely data collection while maintaining strong adherence to Do-No-Harm principles and cultural sensitivity, particularly in rural and mountainous communities.
- Coordinate community entry and stakeholder engagement with local authorities, mahalla leaders, civil society organizations, and relevant institutions to facilitate safe and effective fieldwork.
- Conduct field monitoring, spot checks, and troubleshooting, addressing logistical challenges such as remote access, transport limitations, and connectivity constraints in rural districts.
- Provide regular progress updates and contextual insights to the STOOS central team to support data quality assurance, interpretation of findings, and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, Economics, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in field coordination, research, monitoring and evaluation, or data collection management.
- Demonstrated experience managing enumerator teams and large-scale field data collection activities.
- Strong understanding of local administrative systems and community engagement practices in Tajikistan.
- Fluency in Tajik and/or Russian, with working knowledge of English preferred.
- Strong organizational, coordination, and problem-solving skills, particularly in remote or resource-constrained environments.

- Supervise enumerator teams and field researchers, ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality data collection through structured surveys, interviews, and field observations.
- Facilitate community entry and coordination with local authorities, mahalla committees, civil society actors, and relevant institutions to ensure smooth implementation of research activities.
- Conduct field supervision, spot checks, and troubleshooting, addressing logistical and operational challenges that may arise during field implementation.
- Maintain regular communication with the STOOS central research team, providing updates on field progress, operational challenges, and contextual insights relevant to the research process.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, Economics, Statistics, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, or field coordination.
- Proven experience managing survey teams, enumerators, or research field staff.
- Strong understanding of local governance structures and community engagement mechanisms in Uzbekistan.
- Fluency in Uzbek and/or Russian, with working knowledge of English preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
