Job Overview / Summary:

This position is part of the implementation of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) team’s work. The IW will carry out tasks in coordination with the MEAL Assistant at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to ensure that the data required for monitoring project progress is collected in line with IRC’s commitments and that quality monitoring processes are properly conducted in the field.

IRC’s and partners’ activities are monitored to enhance program quality, adjust projects when necessary, and ensure timely availability of data to provide decision-makers with the information needed for evidence based decision making. This is achieved through activities such as data collection, data entry, coordination with response programs, field visits, and evaluations for both partner-implemented and IRC direct-implemented projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect field data from beneficiaries and targeted communities using approved MEAL tools and questionnaires.
  • Monitor the implementation of activities in the field, including distributions, awareness sessions, and other program-related activities.
  • Accurately complete MEAL forms in accordance with the supervisor’s instructions.
  • Conduct regular household visits to assess the use of provided assistance and measure beneficiary satisfaction.
  • Submit concise field reports after each monitoring visit, highlighting key observations, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Enter and upload field data using mobile phones or tablets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with approved templates.
  • Coordinate with field program teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive data collection.
  • Adhere to the IRC’s policies, protection standards, professional conduct, and code of ethics.
  • Perform any other related duties as requested by the direct supervisor to support MEAL activities.

Key Working Relationships:

Position reports to: MEAL Assistant or his/her line manager in the absence of the MEAL Assistant.

Other Internal and/or External Contacts: Regular coordination with humanitarian actors and other partners in Syria.

Job Requirements:

Essential:

– A technical institute diploma or a university degree.

– Relevant previous experience in data collection, surveys, or assessments (experience in humanitarian programs is preferred).

– Good command of the English language.

Work Environment:

Field-based work environment inside Syria.
