Development Expertise Lab (DEL) is a research and consulting firm specializing in international development. DEL specializes in data collection, data analysis, and research activities in developing countries.
As part of a baseline study for a project in the areas of conflict, community protection and social cohesion in Mali and Burkina Faso, DEL is seeking Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) experts.
Main responsibilities
The Monitoring and Evaluation expert will be responsible for:
- Contribute to the design or review of the evaluation methodology in coordination with the DEL team
- Participate in the development of tools for collecting quantitative and qualitative data.
- Supervise or support data collection in the field, including training and mentoring of investigators
- Ensure quality control of collected data and monitor data collection performance indicators
- Analyze quantitative and/or qualitative data and contribute to the drafting of the evaluation report
- Ensuring compliance with ethical standards, informed consent protocols and data protection requirements, particularly for vulnerable populations affected by conflict
- Contribute to the contextual analysis of conflict dynamics, community protection and social cohesion in intervention areas
- Participate in coordination meetings with the DEL team and, where applicable, with project donors and partners
Desired profile
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of development projects
- University degree (Master’s level) in social sciences, economics, statistics, project evaluation or a related field
- Evidence of prior experience: Provide examples of written evaluation reports (baseline, midline or endline), preferably on a project in the field of conflict, community protection or social cohesion.
- To reside in Mali or Burkina Faso
- Good understanding of the security and socio-cultural context and the sensitivities specific to conflict zones and affected populations
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods (sampling, data collection, individual and group interviews, data analysis)
- Experience with computer-aided data collection software (SurveyCTO, KoboToolbox, ODK or equivalent) is preferred.
- Fluency in French; knowledge of English and/or local languages ​​is an asset
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with a good ability to work in a team and meet deadlines
