Lighthouse Relief (LHR) fills gaps in humanitarian support for people seeking refuge – we have been supporting refugees and asylum seekers in Greece for eleven years. Initially, we provided an emergency shoreline response on Lesvos, and more recently we have delivered psychosocial support in Athens and sports programmes for children and young adults living in mainland refugee camps. We are an independent non-profit organisation registered in Sweden with no political or religious affiliation.
As a Part-Time Social Media Intern, based in Athens/Attica Region, you will bring LHR’s ground-level impact to life across digital platforms. Working closely with the Head of Communications, you will combine creative content production with field site presence.
You will visit our field activities 1–2 times per week to gather raw visual material and transform it into dynamic, high-engagement content – specifically Instagram Reels and TikToks – to raise awareness and support our fundraising efforts.
Key Responsibilities
● Content Gathering & Fieldwork: Visit program sites (Ritsona, Corinth, Malakasa) 1-2 times per week to shoot high-quality photo and video content documenting sessions and activities.
● Short-Form Video Production: Script, edit, and publish engaging, mobile-first short video content (Instagram Reels, TikTok) aligned with brand guidelines and messaging goals.
● Social Media Management: Draft, schedule, and publish regular posts across LHR social channels, writing compelling captions that reflect the realities of refugee support in Greece.
● Safeguarding & Ethics: Strictly adhere to LHR’s Child Protection and Safeguarding policies, ensuring informed consent, participant dignity, and privacy in all visual assets.
● Engagement & Analytics: Monitor social media channels, interact with the audience, and track basic video performance metrics to optimize future content strategy.
Requirements
● Editing Skills: Hands-on experience editing short-form video content specifically tailored for Instagram Reels and TikTok (using CapCut and Canva or any other tools).
● Location & Mobility: Based in the Athens/Attica area with the ability to travel to field sites 1–2 days a week (transportation costs covered from Athens).
● Language Skills: Full professional fluency in English (written and spoken). Knowledge of Greek, Arabic, Farsi, French, Turkish or African languages is a significant advantage.
● Ethics & Safeguarding: Understanding of trauma-informed visual storytelling and a commitment to maintaining participant safety and dignity.
● Administrative: Valid work authorisation for the Schengen area and a clean Criminal Background Check.
Minimum commitment: two days per week for 3 months.
