Context & Mission

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), one of the world’s largest medical emergency relief organizations, operates wherever human life is threatened. Armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from the healthcare system are among the reasons for our interventions.

Area of responsibility: The team leader is part of the core fundraising team for regular donor acquisition, which is part of the Communications and Fundraising department. They report hierarchically to the coordinator for German-speaking Switzerland. Their task is to acquire new regular donors and ensure the smooth running of campaigns in German-speaking Switzerland by assembling motivated teams and organizing campaigns efficiently. They are responsible for achieving both quantitative and qualitative goals.

Area of responsibility

In cooperation with the supervisor:

  • Participation in the strategy reflection on the campaigns in German-speaking Switzerland
  • Ensuring the achievement of acquisition goals
  • Reporting on stand quality according to clearly defined KPIs
  • Assistance in developing and implementing the individual training strategy
  • Support in the implementation of the operational fundraising strategy to achieve quantitative and qualitative KPIs
  • Daily reporting of the working hours of all hourly employees to the coordinator.

Independent – Acquisition of regular donors:

  • Act as the first point of contact for local authorities and police as well as, if available, for other F2F fundraising teams at the stand
  • Information about the work of Doctors Without Borders
  • Acquisition of new regular donors via direct debit (LSV)
  • Role model for the team regarding fundraising work

Independent – team leadership and performance monitoring

  • Control and monitoring the performance of the on-site teams
  • Ensuring team cohesion and ongoing training of team members
  • Fundraiser motivation: Motivational conversations, personal feedback, encouragement, regular updates on goals and performance, etc.
  • Ensuring punctual start and finish of work; liaising with the coordinator in the event of early termination
  • Management of the scheduled daily schedule and the breaks of the fundraisers at the stand
  • Continuous feedback on the performance, motivation and behavior of individual fundraising staff to the coordinator
  • First contact person for sick notes and vacation requests
  • Ensuring compliance with quality standards by all team members
  • Use of tools in line with the training strategy to ensure ongoing training of fundraisers through coaching and high-quality support in collaboration with the coordinator.
  • Ensuring the transport of materials as well as cleanliness and order at the information stands in accordance with Doctors Without Borders quality standards
  • Immediate reporting of any misconduct to the coordinator
  • Ensuring LSV quality by checking and documenting the quality of all donation forms
  • Daily forwarding of donation forms to the LSV processing department
  • Reporting on the overall status as well as individual team member performance.

Collaboration with logistics and administrative assistance

  • Create a list of all work materials and closely monitor them before, during and after the campaign
  • Maintaining inventory and timely reporting of any additional needs
  • Ensure that the work materials required by the teams (welcome packs, forms, ReAktion magazine, roll-ups, information stand equipment, banners, annual reports, etc.) are available in sufficient quantities at all times
  • Preparation of information stands before each campaign

Other tasks:

  • Telephone availability at any time on the agreed working days
  • Daily reporting on daily performance according to agreed format

Profile

Training

  • Training in sales/marketing is a plus
  • Training in human resources is a plus
  • Management training is a plus

Experience

  • Professional experience in F2F/D2D fundraising
  • At least two years of professional experience in F2F/D2D fundraising or a comparable field
  • Professional experience in management
  • in-depth knowledge of the work of Doctors Without Borders

Languages

  • German/Swiss German: Native speaker
  • French and/or English: good written and spoken knowledge

Context & mission

The MSF movement is built around 5 operational centers supported by 24 sections and offices worldwide. MSF Operational Center Geneva (MSF OCG) is one of these centers.

The team leader is part of the central fundraising team for acquiring long-term donors, which is part of the communications and fundraising department. They report hierarchically to the coordinator for German-speaking Switzerland. Their task is to acquire new long-term donors and to ensure that the campaigns in German-speaking Switzerland run smoothly by putting together motivated teams and organizing the campaigns efficiently. They are responsible for achieving both quantitative and qualitative goals.

Tasks & Responsibilities

In collaboration with the superior:

  • Participate in strategy reflection on campaigns in German-speaking Switzerland
  • Ensure that acquisition targets are met
  • Report on the quality of the stand according to clearly defined KPIs
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual training strategies
  • Support the implementation of the operational fundraising strategy to achieve quantitative and qualitative KPIs
  • Daily reporting of hours worked by all hourly-paid staff to the coordinator.

Independent – Acquisition of regular donor

  • Acting as the first point of contact for local authorities and police, as well as for other F2F fundraising teams at the location, if applicable
  • Providing information about the work of Médecins Sans Frontières
  • Acquiring new regular donors via direct debit
  • Serving as a role model for the team in terms of fundraising work

Independent – Team leadership and performance monitoring

  • Ensuring team cohesion and ongoing training of team members
  • Motivation of the fundraisers: motivational talks, personal feedback, encouragement, regular updates on objectives and performance, etc.
  • Ensuring that work starts and finishes on time; consultation with the coordinator in the event of early termination
  • Managing the planned daily routine and breaks of the fundraisers at the stand
  • Providing the coordinator with ongoing feedback on the performance, motivation and behavior of the individual fundraising staff
  • Being the first point of contact for sick leave and vacation requests
  • Ensuring that all team members meet the quality standards
  • Use tools in line with the training strategy to ensure ongoing training of fundraisers through coaching and high-quality support in collaboration with the coordinator.
  • Ensure the transport of materials as well as the cleanliness and order at the information stands in accordance with the quality standards of Doctors Without Borders.
  • Immediate reporting of any misconduct to the coordinator.
  • Ensuring LSV quality by controlling and documenting the quality of all donation forms
  • Forwarding donation forms to the LSV processing department on a daily basis
  • Reporting on general performance and that of individual team members.

Education

  • Education in sales/marketing is a plus

Experience

  • At least two years of professional experience in F2F/D2D fundraising or a similar field

Terms of employment

  • Full-time position 100% (40h/week)
  • Fixed-term contract, 3 months
  • Working place: Zurich Switzerland
  • Ideal start date: 1st September 2025
  • Gross monthly salary (for 100%): from CHF 6’169.- to CHF 7’807.- (salary commensurate with equivalent experience and internal salary grid)
  • Paid vacation: 25 days per year, prorate temporis, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.
  • Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by MSF, 1/4 by staff member.
