Organisation Background

Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organization (INSO) is an international NGO that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations, and training. INSO provides daily support to more than 1,500 NGOs operating in 24 of the world’s most insecure countries. INSO is registered in the Netherlands, with its headquarters located in The Hague, a city renowned for its international focus on peace and justice.

INSO Southeast Asia

The INSO Southeast Asia platform is launching in response to requests for support in safety coordination from NGOs working in the region. INSO will support NGOs providing much-needed humanitarian assistance amid a complex safety and access environment. The team will harness data and insights to provide timely analysis and coordination services to assist humanitarians navigating significant risks to staff and beneficiaries. As part of the INSO Southeast Asia team, you will be playing an active and impactful role in assisting the delivery of aid to people in significant need.

Job Summary

The INSO Southeast Asia Training Team delivers training and capacity building (T&CB) activities in security analysis for high-risk contexts, security and safety management, and other topics as needed. Activities are delivered mostly online for non-profit and civil society organisations in Myanmar. Under the supervision of the Training Manager, the successful candidate will support all aspects of INSO T&CB activities, including needs assessment, course development, facilitation of training, evaluation of training, learning materials production, and online outreach events. The successful candidate will be an engaging facilitator who can create a comfortable and active learning environment.

Main Responsibilities

Facilitation

  • Facilitate online training and other capacity-building activities engagingly and professionally, including creating a safe environment where participants feel comfortable sharing their experiences and opinions.
  • Coordinate with partners regarding the INSO’s T&CB activities clearly and professionally.
  • Ensure the quality of the training with INSO standards, and that the learning objectives are achieved.
  • Organise logistics and administration, e.g., training schedules, invitation/follow-up messages, platform access, advertisement, etc.
  • Represent INSO values and mandates.

Learning Needs Assessment

  • Contribute to developing data collection tools (e.g., questionnaires, focus groups, interviews, reports), and ensure the collection process.
  • Gather information on training needs through regular informal contact with INSO partners.
  • Contribute to analysing learning needs, particularly leveraging the partners’ knowledge and understanding of the context.

Design & Development

  • Support the TM in supervising the localisation of MOOC.
  • Support the training team in the adaptation of course content, activities, and learning materials to the context, including translation from English to Burmese.
  • Prepare presentations, handouts, activity materials, and related documents.
  • Support the team in the preparation of the annual plan.

Monitoring & Evaluation

  • Ensure pre/post-tests, feedback, and evaluation forms are completed for relevant activities.
  • Monitor online learning activities such as MOOC.
  • Update and maintain M&E databases after each activity.
  • Support in session reports and other reporting as requested by TM.

Others

  • Continuously develop self-awareness and knowledge of the context and course content.
  • Other duties as requested by the TM.

Requirements

Essential

  • 2+ years of training, adult education, or digital learning experience
  • Advanced proficiency in online learning tools, LMS, as well as Microsoft Excel.
  • Fluent in English and Burmese, both speaking and writing
  • A university degree in Education, Communication, International Relations, or another relevant academic programme
  • Knowledge of and commitment to humanitarian principles

Desirable:

  • Relevant work experience with NGOs or CSOs
  • Experience in safety & security management, security risk assessments, personal safety, and humanitarian access
  • Experience in developing and maintaining connections with diverse stakeholders

Terms & Conditions

The position is offered on a fixed-term consultant contract of 12 (twelve) months, which is renewable subject to satisfactory performance and organisational requirements. The applicable terms and conditions will be discussed further during the recruitment process.
