Water And Sanitation Supervisor In St. Marc (Artibonite) At Doctors Without Borders

Supervises the implementation and monitoring of water hygiene and sanitation activities of the project according to MSF protocols , aimed at improving the health conditions of the targeted populations.

  • Conduct assessments in collaboration with medical teams, identifying water and sanitation needs and providing recommendations to the CMT project coordinator based on findings and appropriate responses. Participate in the development of emergency strategies and water and sanitation response plans, including resources, in collaboration with medical and logistics teams.
  • Provide support to logistics and medical teams in identifying, implementing, and monitoring hygiene and sanitation activities within health facilities, in accordance with MSF protocols (e.g., basic water and sanitation requirements). Specific support may be needed to ensure that environmental control measures are defined to address infection control challenges related to patients with highly contagious diseases.
  • Implementation and monitoring of hygiene and sanitation activities within health facilities and according to MSF protocols (e.g., public health engineering in emergency situations).
  • Organize the physical layout of equipment and tools used in water and sanitation activities outside of health facilities, in particular:
  • Stock inventory.
  • Receiving and preparing purchase orders for water, sanitation and hygiene equipment.
  • Verify that the amounts received are recorded.
  • Check monthly consumption figures.
  • Manage the Watsan team involved in water and sanitation activities outside of health facilities with regard to:
  • Participation in staff selection.
  • Participation in staff training.
  • In collaboration with the medical team (and under the supervision of the WATSAN manager), ensure the full implementation of infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in all supported health facilities, including with regard to the supply of drinking water, routine cleaning and disinfection in targeted areas such as maternity and delivery rooms, operating theaters, isolation and high-risk infectious disease areas, the waste management area and source separation, toilets and showers as well as fecal matter management areas, and laundry areas, etc.
  • Assist the Watsan officer in conducting community WASH assessments, with particular priority given to camps for internally displaced persons, as well as in developing community strategies for Watsan, implementing Watsan activities and monitoring these activities in collaboration with community focal points.
  • In collaboration with the community engagement and health promotion team, ensure rigorous monitoring of implemented WASH programs, awareness campaigns, WASH data collection, and the creation and training of Water User Committees (WUCs), in order to guarantee sustainable and community-driven management of implemented WASH programs.
  • Accompany (or represent) the Watsan manager at WASH sector group meetings or in other activities aimed at engaging or collaborating with WASH sector actors.
  • Assist the Watsan manager in developing and monitoring the implementation of the WASH activity schedule for the project in question, and report any difficulties encountered.
  • Assist the Watsan manager in needs assessment, survey, planning and implementation of NFI WASH distribution to certain communities, in accordance with the project’s intervention strategy.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Education: Technical diploma, preferably with a specialization in the field of water and sanitation.
  2. Experience: 2 years of experience in the field of technical water supply and sanitation work, particularly in the humanitarian sector.
  3. Languages : French and Creole
  4. Knowledge: Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
