Job Objective:
Designs, implements, and ensures the correct execution of the communication strategy for the project With My Documents in Order; as well as manages the communication processes through different media, ensuring the visibility of the project in accordance with the guidelines and principles of HIAS and its partner UNICEF.
Main Functions
Communication strategy
• Develops and implements the Communications Plan for the CMDR project – With My Documents in Order III within the framework of the approved plan, whose intervention focuses on the migratory formalization of children and adolescents in educational institutions.
• Ensures the implementation of the communication guidelines and procedures of HIAS Peru and its partner UNICEF during the implementation of the project.
• Participates in internal and external meetings that generate input for Communication management.
• Acts as HIAS focal point on project Communication issues with its partner UNICEF, with HIAS LAC for the project, as well as with other relevant actors related to the project.
• Develops, designs, and diagrams project advocacy and communication materials, such as presentations, newsletters, videos, among others.
• Creates and implements the project’s registration plan (taking photos, videos, etc.) to ensure the creation of relevant materials for the donor, HIAS, beneficiaries, and others.
• Designs and implements the HIAS public perception monitoring plan and implements actions to maintain an adequate institutional image.
• Provides reports to the project management team and country office.
Programs and projects
• Provides support in the consolidation of information and the preparation of program management reports according to donor requirements. Reviews the final wording and the correct implementation of branding.
• Prepares communication content, designs flyers, posters, triptychs, diptychs, and other materials aimed at project participants with implementation in physical and digital spaces. Designs, coordinates, and implements social media campaigns with the different technical areas, finally, obtaining approval from the Program Directorate.
• Coordinates with the UNICEF communications focal point for approval of all pieces prior to publication or dissemination.
• Prepares and implements the social media publication plan for the project period.
• Prepares the templates for institutional use according to the graphic line of the project With My Documents in Order: PPT, report sheets, among others.
• Reviews, adjusts and ensures that the PPTs or other documents addressed to the Unicef partner are prepared correctly, with simple language, strategic content and adequate wording prior to presentation to the partner.
• Understands the visibility guidelines of the partner and the funded party and coordinates with the respective focal points the approval flow of the different products.
• Supervises and ensures that the images and designs of the physical and digital POP material of HIAS (brochures, triptychs, posters, videos, flyers, etc.) comply with the procedures and parameters established at the corporate and donor level. Will also design these products if requested.
• Generates communication progress reports for the partner that include visual elements; maps, flows, among others.
Communication with beneficiaries/non-beneficiaries
• Develops and implements the project Communications Plan, aimed at participants and potential participants, strategic partners and other audiences of interest.
• Ensures the comprehensive approach of communications at the points of contact with the population served by the project (digital, remote and in-person service channels).
• Guarantees the user-centered approach for the design of products delivered to beneficiaries (informational materials and merchandising).
• Designs and ensures the implementation of the plan for new channels of attention to beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries of HIAS Peru, such as WhatsApp Central, call center, and others.
• Develops and implements a plan to monitor the project team’s communications with participants: defines effectiveness measurement indicators, prepares an information entry matrix, analyzes virtual record entry metrics (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn), and generates progress reports.
• Provides support to the team in the use of communication materials that ensure the development of in-person and remote activities.
• Other additional functions inherent to the position.
Required profile:
• Higher studies completed in Communication, Social Communication, International Relations, or careers related to the position.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in communications areas in NGOs, humanitarian aid organizations, etc.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with migrant and refugee populations; and humanitarian assistance or development programs.
• Experience in developing and implementing mass communication tools and with vulnerable populations (social networks, one-to-one channels, call centers, others)
• Knowledge and management of social networks and technological communication tools
• Experience in the design and development of social campaigns.
• Experience with UN partners / donors.
• Knowledge and demonstrated experience in writing techniques.
• Knowledge of Human Rights (desirable)
• Knowledge of Adobe tools (Illustrator, Premier, Photoshop, Lightroom) and Canva.
• Office skills
