Position Overview
MERA Global is seeking Expert Auditors Consultants based in Syria, Turkey, and Jordan or Global to support its growing portfolio of compliance, financial verification, and audit engagements. The consultants will conduct audits and assessments of partner organizations, projects, and financial systems, ensuring accountability and compliance with donor requirements.
This role is ideal for seasoned audit professionals with a strong understanding of donor regulations and international standards, particularly in humanitarian and development contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support internal and external audit assignments, including planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up.
- Assess financial records, transactions, and documentation for compliance with donor guidelines (e.g., USAID, EU).
- Review procurement processes, financial controls, and risk mitigation frameworks.
- Conduct spot checks, fraud investigations, and forensic audits as needed.
- Draft high-quality audit reports with clear findings and actionable recommendations.
- Advise partners and clients on corrective actions, internal controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Coordinate with MEL, programmatic, and finance teams to ensure audit alignment with project objectives.
- Ensure audits are conducted ethically, independently, and according to international standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Audit, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Recognized professional audit/accountancy certification is required, such as:
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
- ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
- CIA (Certified Internal Auditor)
- CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in auditing, ideally in humanitarian or development sectors.
- Demonstrated experience with donor-funded projects (USAID, EU, UN, etc.).
- Proven ability to work in fragile, conflict-affected settings and multicultural environments.
- Strong report writing and analytical skills.
- Fluency in English required; Arabic is an asset.
