Context
We are building a roster of investigators, field researchers, supervisors, and data collection assistants based in Mali for Third Party Monitoring (TPM) missions, humanitarian assessments, and development projects. This pool of experts is intended to be deployed throughout the country to ensure rigorous monitoring of assistance programs. Selected candidates may be called upon for various missions involving primary data collection, impact assessment, supervision, or field support in rural, conflict-affected, or hard-to-reach areas.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct household surveys, key informant interviews (KII) and facilitate focus group discussions (FGD).
- Collect data for verification of distributions (food, Non-Food Items – NFI, cash transfers / CVA) and assess the quality of humanitarian assistance provided by international donors.
- Conduct post-distribution (PDM) surveys to assess the use, relevance and impact of emergency aid on beneficiaries.
- Conduct physical verification missions of the routing, receipt and final distribution of assistance to target communities.
- Evaluate beneficiary satisfaction and verify compliance with targeting and registration criteria during interventions.
- Use mobile data collection tools (KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO or similar).
- Strictly adhere to the principles of informed consent, confidentiality, safeguarding, protection against sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), the “Do No Harm” approach and data protection.
- Submit reliable, cleaned data and detailed mission reports within the given deadlines.
Desired Profile
- Proven experience in surveys, evaluations, research, project monitoring (TPM) or humanitarian data collection.
- Significant field work experience in Mauritania.
- Good knowledge of the dynamics of rural, pastoral, agro-pastoral, displaced or host communities.
- Proficiency in quantitative (households) and qualitative (KII, FGD) survey techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to use an Android smartphone or tablet for digital data collection.
- Excellent command of French and/or Arabic (written and spoken). Fluency in local languages ​​(Hassanya, Pulaar, Soninke, Wolof, etc.) is highly desirable.
