COOPI Cooperazione Internazionale is a secular and independent NGO, founded in Milan in 1965. It carries out development projects to contribute to the fight against poverty in particularly degraded areas and emergency programs to support people affected by natural disasters or conflicts. Currently, COOPI is present in 33 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean. The main institutional donors are the European Union, UN agencies, the Italian Government, local entities and other European governments.

Description of COOPI in Venezuela

Since 2019, COOPI has established a presence in Venezuela to assist the local population after the worsening of the country’s socioeconomic crisis. As of July 2020, a regional crisis response program begins that is implemented in consortium with Venezuelan organizations for the protection of vulnerable groups. In these years COOPI has expanded its interventions and is currently executing projects with different donors in Caracas, Lara, Carabobo, Anzoátegui, Sucre, Delta Amacuro and Bolivar in protection (GBV, Child Protection, Human Trafficking), sexual reproductive health, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and school feeding.

Objective/job description

COOPI plans to reinforce its logistics structure in Caracas through a Logistics Assistant and Driver, in charge of supporting the operational and logistical aspects of the interventions, ensuring compliance with COOPI and donor procedures.

The Assistant will work under the general supervision of the Logistics Officers.

Areas of responsibility

Project implementation and management

  • Support the Project Coordinator and the Logistics area in supervising the project purchasing plan;
  • Collaborate in updating supplier databases;
  • Supports the logistics area for the reception, storage and assembly, when required, of supplies and materials, as well as their transfer to delivery locations;
  • Support the Logistics and Administration area in the registration and filing of documents relating to the acquisition of equipment and goods, as well as their transfer to beneficiaries, local partners and/or other projects;
  • Contribute to updating the inventories of fixed assets in COOPI facilities (offices and guest-house) and consumable goods;
  • Manage the correct maintenance of assets owned by COOPI or acquired by the projects, using corporate tools;
  • Application of the Security Plan and resolution of operational aspects;
  • Ensure compliance with quality and transparency standards according to the requirements of the organization and donors;
  • Conduct evaluations of the organization’s assets to ensure that minimum security conditions are met. Prevent loss and damage by reporting irregularities; inform violators of policy and procedures;
  • Support the Logistics area in the preparation of interim and final project reports;
  • Carry out those tasks inherent to the objectives of the position, and that are requested by the logistics area according to the context and needs of the projects.

Vehicle management

  • Coordinates with the different areas of the coordination office (Caracas) to organize the weekly planning of vehicle use;
  • Guarantee the mobilization of personnel and equipment/assets of the organization in the areas of intervention in Caracas;
  • Applies and enforces security procedures for planned mobilizations;
  • Updates detailed records of fuel consumption, lubricating oils, filters, and maintenance of the assigned vehicle according to defined times;
  • Keep a detailed log of mobilizations of both personnel and goods;
  • Notify the Logistics area of ​​any type of anomalies and/or failures that the assigned vehicle presents.

Desired profile

Essentials:

  • Diversified and professional secondary education;
  • Experience of at least 3 years in functions related to logistics (purchases, warehouses, transportation and vehicle fleet management and personnel mobilization preferably;
  • Previous experience working with NGOs, UN agencies, public service and/or companies;
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics of synchronous and automatic motor vehicles, gasoline and diesel; Knowledge of current land traffic law and safe driving practices;
  • Ability to work in a team, in multicultural environments and with multidisciplinary teams; Honesty, proactive and decisive attitude, common sense, analytical skills and discretion;
  • Confidentiality regarding sensitive aspects of both the organization and the people with whom it interacts in the services provided; Commitment, flexibility and, if applicable, willingness to travel within the country;
  • Respect for the organization’s charter of values ​​and humanitarian principles; Spanish language;
  • Management of computer and office tools; Valid traffic license;
