COOPI Cooperazione Internazionale is an Italian secular and independent humanitarian organization that fights against all forms of poverty to improve the world. Founded in 1965, today COOPI is present in 33 countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and the Middle East, with both emergency and development projects carried out by expatriate personnel – an average of more than 270 people per year – and staff national. The main institutional funders are the European Union – ECHO and INTPA – USAID, UN agencies, the Italian Government, local authorities and other European governments.

Description of COOPI in Venezuela

Since 2019, COOPI has established a presence in Venezuela to assist the local population after the worsening of the country’s socioeconomic crisis. As of July 2020, a regional crisis response program begins that is implemented in consortium with Venezuelan organizations for the protection of vulnerable groups. In these years COOPI has expanded its interventions and is currently executing projects with different donors in Caracas, Sucre, Delta Amacuro and Bolivar in protection (GBV, Child Protection, Human Trafficking), reproductive sexual health, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene ) and school feeding.

Objective/job description

COOPI plans to reinforce the project team by hiring a Warehouse Specialist, in charge of storage management , inventory control and food distribution within the framework of COOPI intervention in Venezuela, state of Sucre. These functions will be carried out in accordance with the objectives of the COOPI organization, the obligations with the donor, World Food Programme, and national regulations applicable in the areas of intervention.

Areas of responsibility

Main activities :

  • Receipt/dispatch of products, including transshipment (from truck to truck), taking into account approved official documentation (e.g., consignment notes and/or delivery notes) and ensuring accuracy in the physical count of products and for their quality, in accordance with established standards
  • Record of inputs and outputs of products, materials and supplies according to the requests that correspond to the execution of the project;
  • Store food properly, following recommended storage guidelines.

Registration and documentation

  • Prepare monthly warehouse control and movement reports;
  • Maintain detailed records of food input and output transactions, including appropriate documentation for audits and regulatory compliance;
  • Collaborate in the preparation of inventory monitoring and control reports.

Maintenance and food safety

  • Conditioning of premises for warehouse, taking care of the perfectibility conditions of some materials;
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure that food is stored and handled in accordance with food safety regulations;
  • Keep the warehouse clean and safe, ensuring hygienic and safety conditions;
  • Ensure food handling and storage guidelines are followed in accordance with local and national health regulations;
  • Collaborate in the identification and management of possible risks related to food safety.

Coordination and distribution

  • Supports the distribution of food to beneficiaries or internal departments according to project requests and requirements;
  • Planning and executing periodic inventories to ensure the accuracy of stock records.

Training and collaboration

  • Participate in the training of personnel related to food handling and storage;
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Officer on various tasks related to the efficient management of the food warehouse.

Desired profile

ESSENTIALS

  • Diversified and professional university education;
  • Experience of at least 3 years in functions related to logistics (purchases, warehouses, transportation and vehicle fleet management and personnel mobilization preferably);
  • Previous experience working with NGOs, UN agencies, public service and/or companies;
  • Ability to work in a team, in multicultural environments and with multidisciplinary teams;
  • Honesty, proactive and decisive attitude, common sense, analytical skills and discretion;
  • Basic knowledge of mechanics of synchronous and automatic motor vehicles, gasoline and diesel;
  • Commitment, flexibility and, if applicable, willingness to travel within the country
  • Knowledge of current land traffic law and safe driving practices;
  • Confidentiality regarding sensitive aspects of both the organization and the people with whom it interacts in the services provided;
  • Respect for the vision and mission of COOPI, its charter of values ​​and humanitarian principles;
  • Spanish language essential;
  • Valid traffic license;
  • Use of computer tools (Microsoft Windows operating system) and office tools (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Immediate availability.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience in the field of humanitarian aid and/or development cooperation;
  • Knowledge of the English language (valued);
  • Venezuelan nationality or residence permit in the country.
