Context
In West Africa, information manipulation and foreign interference (IMI/FII), state propaganda, and local disinformation pose a growing threat to social cohesion and public trust. Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) gGmbH, in collaboration with international and local partners, is implementing the project “Prebunking West Africa: Early Detection and Countering Disinformation, IMI, and Disinformation in Benin, Togo, and Guinea-Bissau,” funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (Division 607). This project establishes a proactive prebunking system designed to identify manipulative narratives early and neutralize them before they go viral.
Mission objective
The Media Producer will lead the video production and visual content development for the project’s short-form digital campaign. Working in the target country, they will translate verified fact-checking analyses into engaging and high-impact video formats tailored to young people and social media audiences.
Main responsibilities
- Short format video production: scripting, filming and editing short and dynamic videos of 60 to 90 seconds, optimized for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
- Platform-friendly storytelling: converting complex prebunking analyses, media literacy concepts, and factual detoxes into visual, dynamic, and entertaining content formats.
- Linguistic and regional conditioning: designing and editing video content in French and in the main local languages (e.g. Ewe, Fon, Creole, Mandinka) to maximize engagement with local audiences.
- Mobile Journalism (MoJo) Workflow: Utilize mobile production equipment and streamlined editing tools to ensure rapid processing upon receipt of briefs on reported misinformation.
- Editorial alignment: working in close coordination with the local moderator (“Young Talent”), the pool of disinformation experts and the editor-in-chief of MiCT to maintain technical rigor and editorial standards.

Required qualifications
- Proven experience in short-form video production, mobile journalism (MoJo) and editing for digital platforms.
- Proficiency in modern video editing software and mobile production tools.
- In-depth knowledge of digital media consumption trends and social network dynamics in West Africa.
- Proficiency in French and relevant local languages (e.g., Ewe, Fon for Togo/Benin; Creole for Guinea-Bissau).
