Job Title: Protection and GBV Assistant
Location: Damascus / Latakia / Deir ez-Zor (one staff member per center)
Reports to: Projects Coordinator (with technical support from GBV/Protection Coordinator)
Position Purpose
The Protection and GBV Assistant will support the implementation of protection and GBV activities at the center level, ensuring safe, confidential, and survivor-centered services. S/he will assist in case management, awareness raising, referrals, and community mobilization, while adhering to international protection standards and MRD safeguarding policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support identification, intake, and follow-up of GBV and protection cases.
- Provide survivor-centered case management and safe referrals in line with SOPs.
- Facilitate awareness sessions on GBV prevention, women’s rights, child protection, and available services.
- Work with community mobilizers to strengthen referral pathways and community-based protection mechanisms.
- Ensure accurate, confidential documentation of cases and activities.
- Coordinate with legal and MHPSS teams for integrated service delivery.
- Participate in trainings, supervision, and debriefing sessions.
Qualifications
- University degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in protection or GBV programming.
- Strong knowledge of GBV guiding principles (confidentiality, safety, respect, non-discrimination).
- Familiarity with referral pathways and survivor-centered approaches.
- Good facilitation and communication skills.
- Fluency in Arabic required; English an asset.
