Job summary, aim and purpose

Shelter Engineer Assistant

The role involves supporting the engineering team in all activities related to the restoration and repair of homes targeted by the project. The position aims to ensure that engineering and field work is carried out according to plans and technical specifications, and to assist in monitoring and documenting the quality of work, thereby contributing to achieving the project’s objectives and improving the living conditions of the beneficiaries.

Job duties and responsibilities:

Assisting shelter engineers in preparing and implementing home restoration and maintenance plans.

Monitoring the progress of field work and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and engineering standards.

Contributing to the preparation of field reports on progress, quality, and technical challenges

Verifying the materials and equipment used and ensuring their quality and conformity to specifications.

Participating in site visits to the project and documenting the workflow through photos and notes.

Coordination with other teams to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to the project timeline

Assistance in preparing technical documents, plans, and schedules for construction.

Supporting the development of tools and technical models for monitoring work progress and quality

Participating in field and coordination meetings with project teams and beneficiaries

Providing technical support to team members when needed

Adherence to the quality, safety, and engineering standards approved by the organization and the donor.

Perform any additional tasks assigned by the shelter engineer or project management.

Job requirements

University degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture

Arabic and English languages

Ability to travel is required

At least two years of practical experience in engineering or relief projects.

Knowledge of engineering standards for reconstruction and repair projects

Skills in using design and engineering drawing software such as AutoCAD or equivalent.

Proficiency in using basic computer programs (MS Office)

Ability to work in multi-tasking field environments

High organizational skills and the ability to pay attention to detail

Good communication skills and teamwork

The ability to solve field problems quickly and effectively

Adherence to quality, safety and accountability standards at work

The ability to manage time and adapt to the demands of field projects.

Confident communicator, capable of earning people’s respect
