How can you make a difference? Key functions / Responsibilities
The Psychologist will have the main responsibility of developing actions with a social and participatory approach through the analysis of individual and group social factors in order to develop the characterization, understanding and intervention of the social phenomena of the environment from mental health, psychosocial support and gender violence, seeking to promote the well-being and improvement of the quality of life of the population benefiting from the project.
He/She will be in charge of:
- Develop methodologies as strategies that seek to reduce the psychosocial impact on the population.
- To inform and guide in relation to the psychological aspects that allow to favor or sustain situations for the improvement of social vulnerability of both individuals and social groups.
- To prevent, through psychoeducational work, psychological risk factors as well as social integration issues.
- Promotion and strengthening of social support networks including community-based organizations, planning and implementing preventive awareness actions based on the resources available to the community.
- Through the use of techniques and methodologies specific to the profession, generate processes of community participation and empowerment so that the community itself generates its own actions.
- Develop strategies that seek to identify beneficiaries within the framework of the project.
- To monitor the beneficiaries of the project in order to measure the impact of the psychosocial intervention being developed.
- Upload the information from medical histories and related documents into the system established by the national project coordination within the timeframe required by the PMER area.
- Systematize the collected characterization information and consolidate the number of services/supports provided through the system used within the organization.
- Prepare and deliver within the deadlines indicated by the national and local coordination of the project the monthly activity report and final consolidated report in accordance with the established formats consistent with the logical framework.
- To build together with the team that integrates the project at both the local and national levels, educational material for the beneficiary population, taking into account the guidelines of this project and the management of the promotion of mental health and psychosocial support of the Venezuelan Red Cross.
- Preparation, monitoring and updating of the institutional mapping of the territory where it works in order to strengthen and establish joint work for the improvement of the quality of life of the populations.
- Know and comply with the safety standards in operations established for the development of the project.
- Promptly report to the coordinator any incident that affects the development of scheduled activities.
- Perform other tasks assigned by your immediate superiors to contribute to the achievement of organizational objectives.
Report
The psychologist will report to the Local Coordinator of the project and to the branch president.

Maracaibo (CRV Maracaibo Branch), San Cristóbal (CRV San Cristóbal Branch), San Fernando de Apure (CRV San Fernando de Apure Branch), Guasdualito (CRV Guasdualito Branch).
To qualify as a builder of the Venezuelan humanitarian system, you must meet the following requirements:
- Professional in psychology (Provide original degree and black background).
- Registration with the College of Psychologists in the jurisdiction where they are practicing (if not, where they are domiciled and/or resident)
- Registration with the Social Security Institute for Psychologists (INPREPSI)
- Registration with the Federation of Psychologists of Venezuela (FPV)
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience.
- Knowledge and work experience with a differential perspective of gender, age, ethnicity and diversity.
- Experience in forming and strengthening community social networks. Management of psychosocial strategies and intervention.
- Experience in guidance, advice and support for families and the community.
- Knowledge and experience in baseline studies. Skills as a facilitator and instructor.
- Knowledge of the health system (desirable).
- Focus on providing a quality service to beneficiary populations.
- Flexibility in working hours and days.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and contexts.
- Motivation for humanitarian and community work.
- Experience working with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member under difficult conditions and high levels of stress.
- Skills in negotiation and peaceful/constructive conflict resolution.
- Capacity and agreement to adhere to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong sense of responsibility and professional ethics.
