Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a Dutch Government Account Manager for a new team. The Dutch Government Account Manager is part of the new Institutional Fundraising and National Programs department and contributes to maintaining and strengthening War Child Netherlands’ relationship with institutional donors and related stakeholders in the Dutch home market with the aim of securing financing.

We are looking for someone who is results-oriented, with political, cultural and organizational sensitivity. As a Dutch Government Account Manager, you work together with country offices, regions and global teams of the War Child Alliance to further develop and strengthen the relationship with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs at country level. In addition, you look for synergy with the other clusters within the Fundraising and Communication & Advocacy department to achieve both quantitative and qualitative goals.

Our organization

The new Institutional Fundraising and National Programs department will become part of War Child Netherlands. The Dutch Government Account Manager reports to the Head of the IF&NP department and is responsible for nurturing and growing the donor account portfolio. Mainly, but not exclusively with the Dutch MFA and RVO, and building and strengthening relationships with this donor and related stakeholders, including network organizations within the Netherlands. Where necessary, you represent War Child Netherlands in relevant stakeholder meetings or forums, and you play a proactive role in identifying and setting up (new) partnerships. With the aim of jointly gaining access to financing or advocacy opportunities to increase the profile and ultimately increase the number of children that War Child Netherlands reaches through institutional financing.

Your responsibilities

  • Advise and support the organization in achieving and exceeding its institutional donor funding target;
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of an MFA/RVO financing strategy, including engagement plan;
  • Lead and coordinate the proactive acquisition and sharing of information on institutional donors, networks and strategic engagement and positioning vis-à-vis these donors, and share this with other relevant departments and country, regional and global teams;
  • Provide professional services to optimize institutional donor funding, partnership development and collaboration;
  • Provide expert advice and training regarding donor requirements during proposal development, contracting and grant implementation;
  • Coordinate with the communications and advocacy team to coordinate external communications;
  • Providing vision and strategic advice on partnerships and policy influencing opportunities in the Netherlands related to the Dutch Government;
  • Contribute to the positioning of War Child as a specialized network organization in the Netherlands;
  • Contribute to quality proposals and obtain new MFA contracts in the context of strategic partnerships.

Profile

  • Academic working level with relevant academic background in development/international cooperation and/or humanitarian aid;
  • At least three years of experience in a similar position or working at bilateral/multilateral institutions;
  • Good knowledge and experience of institutional fundraising for NGOs from institutional donors, including experience in proposal development and grant management;
  • Good knowledge of current developments and trends in the (international) aid sector;
  • Demonstrable expertise in the field of donor account management;
  • Demonstrated expertise in the development and operationalization of institutional financing strategies;
  • Knowledge of and insight into (institutional) donor networks;
  • Good relationship building skills, diplomatic skills and strong in building and maintaining networks;
  • Excellent facilitation and organizational skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Good oral and excellent communication skills in English and Dutch;
  • Flexible;
  • Team player;
  • Proactive;
  • Willing and able to travel to War Child program areas;
  • Available for 32 – 40 hours per week.

What we offer

  • Salary ranges from €4180 to €5197 gross per month, based on 40 hours per week (the exact amount is determined by the years of your relevant work experience);
  • 8% holiday allowance based on the annual salary;
  • An employment contract for 32 -40 hours;
  • 29 days of vacation per year on a full-time basis (including 3 predetermined days off);

  • Net compensation for home working and travel costs according to our hybrid work policy (our office is best reached by public transport);
  • Monthly mobile phone allowance of €25 net per month;
