Aflatoun creates high-quality curricula for different age groups, which are contextualized to local needs and circumstances, and are implemented by over 300 partner organizations in 101 countries. Aflatoun programmes inspire children to discover their talents and put them to use, to stand up for their rights and those of their communities through active learning and problem solving. They learn how to save, how to budget, and how to set up social and financial enterprises that benefit themselves, their families and their communities. Aflatoun has been recognized globally (Brookings, Harvard, HundrEd, Million Lives Club) for its high-impact, low-cost model, which has shown to be effective in changing behaviors of participants across the globe.

By using a social franchise model, Aflatoun transfers curricular content, monitoring and evaluation tools, and training capacity to partner organisations, helping them enhance their existing expertise and create an efficient learning ecosystem. Aflatoun’s programmes follow an active-learning, participant- centered methodology, which combines social and financial education (SFE) through engaging participants, educators, government institutions and civil society organisations.

Purpose of the consultancy

Aflatoun International is looking for a Fundraising Specialist/Firm to develop a Fundraising capacity building Training workshop for its network of partners around the world. The objective of this training is to support Aflatoun’s partner network in identifying fundraising opportunities through relevant platforms, strategizing business development activities, identifying relevant donors in the field of education and youth programming, and providing technical advice on proposal development.

Deliverables (including dates)

At the end of the consultancy contract, the following outputs will be expected:

Deliverable (1): Conduct a consultation process into partner fundraising needs with Aflatoun regional programme managers and key partners. Deadline: 5 April 2022

Deliverable (2): Develop a Fundraising guidance document for partners which provides an overview on: Deadline: 15 April 2022

· Donor landscape in terms of education and youth programming (incl. most relevant stakeholders and donors, etc.)

· Strategies to approach donors and funding opportunities

· Relevant fundraising resources and online portals

· Guidance on partnership building

· Technical advice on proposal development**

Deliverable (3): Contextualization of guidance document for the following regions: Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe and Central Asia, Francophone Africa, Anglophone Africa, and MENA region. Deadline: 20 April 2022

Deliverable (4): Delivery of an online workshop for partners (in English) to familiarize them with the guidance document and provide technical support. Deadline: 30 April 2022

Required Skills & Qualifications

· Demonstrable prior experience in conducting business development and fundraising consultancy in the not-for-profit sector.

· At least ten years’ experience in producing and implementing fundraising strategies

· Experience in partnership development financing.

· Advanced University degree in non-profit management, international relations/ development, business, or related field.

· Demonstrable prior experience in conducting research on an international level.

· Excellent communication skills including presentations and report writing.

· Excellent spoken and written English. Knowledge of additional languages such French, Spanish, Russian or Arabic would be an advantage.

· Ability to multi-task and to work under pressure.

Due to the nature of Aflatoun’s work with children around the world, specific attention is drawn towards Aflatoun’s Child Protection Policy and its Policy on the Protection of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). These two policies are required to be signed by consultants and forms part of the consultancy contract. The applicant commits to zero tolerance towards sexual exploitation and abuse. An additional written test may be required.
